The Position

This position is located in Molecule Characterization, a department within Large Molecule Research, where we discover and develop novel therapeutic antibodies and next generation biologics. Our ambition is to deliver such molecules to patients with game-changing clinical benefits.

Job mission

We are offering an opportunity for a (Senior-) Associate (m/f/d) in the Mass Spectrometry Department to work with multidisciplinary teams of scientists dedicated to the in-depth characterization of complex biologics by the combination of physicochemical methods. You will be the bridge that fosters collaboration and innovation in the discovery of next generation biologics. This temporary position therefore offers the opportunity to interact with numerous functions within Roche to deliver novel medicines to patients.

Your impact

  • Developing and applying mass spectrometry methods for the analysis of complex biopharmaceutical molecules

  • Supporting interdisciplinary analytics teams, and collaborating with scientists from discovery, bioprocessing and data science in a cross-functional matrix

  • Utilizing automated sample preparation workflows coupled to fast LC-MS methods

  • Presentation of data, internally and externally, as well as literature research

  • Personally, you have an analytical mindset and motivation to achieve excellence. Furthermore, you are not afraid of breaking down barriers and exploring new paths forward.

  • You appreciate the benefits of working in interdisciplinary, dynamic and diverse teams. You are a good communicator, open and curious, making sure your ideas and results are put on the table, and are happy to receive feedback and learn from it.

  • You are capable of planning and prioritizing different analytical requests in parallel

  • Technically, you bring an apprenticeship as a laboratory technician with professional work experience in research or development, or a higher university degree (e.g. Bachelor or Master FH in natural science). Candidates with a PhD degree cannot be considered for this position.

  • You have hands-on experience in the development and optimization of one or more of the following: sample preparation, HPLC, or mass spectrometry methods. Experience in protein or peptide analytics is preferred.

  • You are not afraid of data & digital topics, and are keen on using user-friendly IT applications to simplify data evaluation and reporting

  • Good English language skills (written and spoken) complete your profile

  • Experience and knowledge in the following are beneficial but not mandatory: automated sample preparation, antibody-drug conjugates, gene therapy modalities (e.g. AAVs), German language skills (spoken)

This position is fix-termed to 2 years.
