What You'll Do
Discover Financial Services (DFS) is seeking a Disaster Recovery (DR) Senior Associate to join our global Business Technology (BT) team. The Disaster Recovery and Service Continuity (SC) team supports the goals and objectives of Business Continuity Management, with a specific focus on technology that enables critical business processes. Overall, the program encompasses the processes, policies and procedures that collectively provide DFS the ability to respond to a disaster, or a large-scale interruption, through the continuation and/or recovery of essential technologies, infrastructure services, and applications.
The senior member of the IT service management team focused on key deliverables of the service. Provides technical direction to the team and works with other BT teams to integrate process procedures into their functions. Interacts with BT Directors and VPs. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.
How You'll Do It
- Analyze data, identify trends, and provide Disaster Recovery and Service Continuity program- and plan-level reporting and documentation to inform, educate, and influence key stakeholders and plan owners.
- Ensure alignment of business requirements to technology capabilities, including approval by all relevant stakeholders.
- Understand and applies quality and content standards via collaboration with project and technology teams, including periodic plan and process reviews, facilitation of exercises, and development/delivery of training and educational materials.
- Establish and regularly communicate metrics-based reporting on all DR/SC activities with clear success criteria, KPIs/KRIs and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Manage work across organizational lines to align competing priorities and achieve consistent results.
- Responsible for using principles to understand customer situations and create solutions.
- Reviews and approves change requests to ensure all necessary measures are being taken to
minimize unplanned downtime. Approves or rejects change requests based on change audit requirements - Responsible for maintaining the quality of IT services.
Qualifications You'll Need
The Basics
- Associate's degree in computer science
- 2+ years of experience in IT Services or related
- In lieu of education, 4+ years IT Services or related experience

Bonus Points If You Have
- Bachelor's degree or relevant industry experience in computer science, information systems, information protection (information security), or a related IT field
- Certification from Disaster Recover Institute International (DRI), EC-Council, Business Resilience Certification Consortium International (BRCCI), Certified Information Security (CIS) is preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of current recovery solutions, high availability architectures and data center architectures.
- Knowledge of crisis management protocols, including communication, escalation, declaration, and de-escalation best practices.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively interact with technical, non-technical, and management teams.
- Familiarity with Business Continuity concepts and processes, including disaster risk assessments, Business Impact Analysis (BIA), and continuity plan development protocols.
- Technical background and experience in areas such as software & product development, networking, database and backup management.
- Working knowledge of multi-cloud environments, alerting & monitoring processes, virtualization technologies, replication and recovery methods, backups and storage techniques.
- Understanding of current standards and guidelines related to BCM & DR (e.g. FFIEC, NIST, ISO 22301:2019)

Compensation:
The base pay for this position generally ranges between $58,500.00 to $90,900.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
