Position description:
Bain Capital is seeking a Senior IT Financial Management (ITFM) Analyst to support IT finance operations by leveraging an ITFM/TBM software solution like MagicOrange to enhance financial transparency, budgeting, forecasting, and cost modeling. This role will play a crucial part in managing and optimizing our ITFM platform, ensuring that IT costs are accurately allocated, forecasted, and reported while driving automation and efficiency across financial processes.
The ideal candidate will have a finance background with strong software expertise in ITFM/TBM tools. They will work closely with IT, finance, and procurement teams to integrate data, build dynamic cost models, and provide data-driven insights that support strategic decision-making.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
ITFM/TBM Solution Management & Financial Analysis
- Own and manage the ITFM/TBM platform, ensuring accurate data integration and model integrity.
- Configure and maintain cost allocation models within the ITFM software to provide transparency into IT spend across departments.
- Use the platform’s scenario modeling and forecasting capabilities to optimize financial planning and budget allocation.
- Work with IT and finance teams to align cost structures, chargeback models, and total cost of ownership (TCO) methodologies within the software.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & IT Cost Optimization
- Serve as the bridge between finance, IT, and operations, ensuring the ITFM platform is used effectively to drive financial decision-making.
- Leverage ITFM/TBM dashboards and reporting capabilities to provide stakeholders with actionable insights into IT spending trends.
- Support financial planning by assessing licensing costs, cloud spend, and indirect IT costs, ensuring all relevant expenses are factored into budgeting.
- Work with IT procurement and license managers to model the financial impact of software, cloud services, and infrastructure investments using the ITFM solution.
Forecasting, Scenario Analysis & Financial Modeling
- Build TCO models for users, roles, and licensing structures within tool, ensuring transparency in FTE vs. FTC costs.
- Use ITFM software to automate and improve budget forecasting, variance analysis, and cost allocation methodologies.
- Develop scenario models within the platform to analyze financial impacts of software licensing changes, resource allocation, and IT project cost shifts.
- Support financial decision-making by integrating operational data into cost models and forecasting tools.
Reporting, Automation & Continuous Improvement
- Automate financial reporting within ITFM tool, eliminating reliance on manual spreadsheets.
- Develop custom dashboards and reports within the ITFM tool to provide insights into IT cost drivers and financial performance.
- Ensure ongoing alignment between ITFM software configurations and business objectives, adjusting as needed to improve accuracy and usability.
- Track and report key ITFM KPIs, including IT cost per user, software utilization, cloud spend efficiency, and chargeback trends. Monthly presentation / reviews with Budget owners
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of experience in IT Financial Management (ITFM), Technology Business Management (TBM), FP&A, or related fields.
- Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, cost allocation, and financial modeling, with a focus on IT costs.
- Experience using an ITFM/TBM platform.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, cost allocation methodologies, and IT budgeting within an ITFM software environment.
- Strong technical skills in ITFM reporting tools, Power BI, SQL, and advanced Excel, with an emphasis on automation.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with finance, IT, and operations teams to optimize IT spend and resource allocation.
- Experience in cloud/SaaS cost management, FinOps, and chargeback/show back models is a plus
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) present throughout the organization on a senior level is a must.
- Hands-on experience configuring and managing an ITFM software solution (MagicOrange or similar) is a plus
- Understanding of SaaS management and license optimization tools (e.g., Torii, Productiv) is a plus
