As a Senior Associate you will join the North America Drayage Procurement & Profit Management team, part of the CastleGate Forwarding (CGF) organization at Wayfair. CGF is a fast-growing, digital freight forwarder representing the inbound leg of our proprietary, end-to-end CastleGate Logistics offering. CGF seamlessly delivers inventory from international factories to destinations in North America and Europe on behalf of our Wayfair suppliers.
Key to that success is cost-efficient, reliable and high quality drayage service from destination port to final location. In this role, you will be responsible for procuring drayage service from carriers, negotiating contracts, managing their performance to service level agreements, all while maintaining a healthy margin and meeting CGF profit goals.
To be successful, you will build strong relationships with carriers and partner heavily with drayage operations and other CGF teams, to solve problems and develop creative solutions.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with creating and driving procurement strategy and vision to create an industry leading final mile network with best in class customer service.
- Discover delivery partners who are complementary to our team goals and service level standards
- Engage and reengage delivery partners to build and maintain relationships
- Develop applicable sourcing strategies
- Negotiate with external delivery partners to obtain valuable terms and conditions
- Examine existing contracts and determine areas of opportunity
- Analyze profit risk and perform profit risk management within the drayage business
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure healthy margin and implement initiatives to achieve
- Facilitate regular performance review calls and quarterly business reviews with drayage vendors to evaluate operational, financial, and cost performance based on established metrics
- Attend conferences and industry events as needed to build relationships and explore new services
What You’ll Need
- Work experience in drayage procurement and drayage operations preferred
- Experience with contacting potential vendors, negotiating favorable rates, and converting leads to signed contracts
- Sales and Business Development mindset with a strong desire to "win"
- Data and process-oriented, comfortable learning data analysis tools
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal to detail processes in a simple and concise manner making information easy to understand and engaging at all levels
- Ability to thrive as part of a team or individually
- Ability to develop strong internal and external relationships with stakeholders
- Comfort working in a fast paced environment with often-changing priorities
- Desire to set goals and own your personal development
- Expertise with Google Suite

- All Boston-based interns, Co-ops, and corporate employees will be in office in a hybrid capacity. Employees will work in the office on designated days, Monday - Thursday, and work remotely Friday.
