As a Senior API Engineer, you will play an integral role in designing, developing, and optimizing APIs and backend systems for high-traffic, enterprise-grade platforms. Your expertise will ensure our systems are robust, scalable, and capable of handling millions of transactions per minute. You will also lead the implementation of system traffic management strategies using the latest tools and best practices in cloud computing.
Responsibilities:
- API and Backend Development: Design, develop, and maintain APIs and backend systems with a focus on scalability, performance, and fault tolerance.
- System Architecture: Architect systems to handle high traffic loads, ensuring reliability and uptime for millions of transactions per minute.
- Cloud Integration: Leverage AWS services such as ECR, ECS, EKS, API Gateway, and Lambda for serverless and containerized deployments.
- Traffic Management: Implement system traffic management strategies, including load balancing, throttling, and distributed system design.
- Event-Driven Systems: Build asynchronous, event-driven architectures to support enterprise-grade platform requirements.
- Database Optimization: Optimize database performance for high-scale transactions, including query tuning and schema design.
- Automation: Utilize CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions and Serverless Framework to automate deployments and improve developer productivity.
- Monitoring and Analytics: Integrate tools for monitoring, logging, and analytics to ensure real-time visibility into system performance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, front-end developers, and QA teams to deliver seamless and reliable solutions.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: 6+ years of backend development and API engineering experience.
- Cloud Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with AWS services, including ECR, ECS, EKS, API Gateway, and Lambda.
- Traffic Management: Proven experience implementing scalable solutions capable of managing high system traffic (millions of transactions per minute).
- Backend Proficiency: Proficient in JavaScript and backend frameworks, with a strong understanding of asynchronous programming.
- Database Design: Expertise in designing and optimizing database schemas and queries for scalability.
- System Design: Deep understanding of high-availability, fault-tolerant, and distributed systems architecture.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Docker, Python, and Terraform.
- Familiarity with OpenSearch or similar tools for search and analytics.
- Prior experience working on enterprise platforms with stringent performance and reliability requirements.
Salary Range:
- Base salary range: Starting from $175k plus bonus eligible

Workplace Policy:
NYC, Dallas, and London office-based positions: Trepp’s offices follow a 3-2 hybrid-working policy with the expectation of in-office work on Tuesday-Thursday and the option to work from home on Monday and Friday.
