Senior Android Engineer - SE3
About the team and the role:
We are about to launch a brand-new engineering hub in Germany. Several new engineering teams within the area of payments will be created from scratch in our Dreilinden office close to Berlin. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer - Android (d/f/m) who will be part of one of these new teams and who can help us build exciting products for our financial services at eBay. You will be working on new experiences for millions of customers, such as supporting our sellers in understanding finances better and enabling seamless business operations. You will lead the development of new features for the eBay Android application by developing system designs, helping to define the technical roadmap, steering the team on all technical aspects, and implementing code. You will report to a Senior Manager of engineering, as well as work closely with the wider engineering team of the new engineering hub.

What you will accomplish:

Understand requirements of new products and translate these requirements into a scalable software architecture.

Implement features for the eBay Android app.

Assure delivery of high-quality software by setting up robust CI/CD pipelines, designing and writing tests, contributing to code reviews and code debugging, and by writing documentation.

Own major features from design phase to coding, testing, deployment and support.

Become a domain expert of the highly complex ecosystem of payments within eBay.
What you will bring:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar technical degree, with 7 years of experience designing and developing Android applications.

In-depth experience in translating requirements into scalable and future-proof software architectures. Broad knowledge of design patterns and technologies used in designing Android applications.

Proficiency and hands-on experiences in Android development using Java and Kotlin.

Working knowledge of tools such as Jira, Git, Android Studio, debugging and profiling is required.

Experience integrating with web services using HTTP / JSON / OpenAPI / TCP/IP, as well as knowledge about databases.
