FP&A Senior and Associate roles
The Financial Associate, FP&A will be part of the Commercial Real Estate Lending team and will assist and support the financial planning and analysis for the lending platform. Senior Financial Associate, FP&A will have a material business-wide impact, as his or her contribution to the financial planning and analysis process will be key to the growth of the business. The successful candidate will report directly to the CFO – Commercial Real Estate business line.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the FP&A process including running the fund model and being well versed in the assumptions that drive the model.
- Prepare presentation and marketing materials, including board presentations, model outputs, senior leadership, and current and potential lenders and investors.
- Anticipate senior team needs ahead of planned investor meetings and prepare materials accordingly.
- Lead the cash planning process by working across the CRE Lending team to be aware of all cash inflows and outflows and work with lenders and legal counsel to ensure we are receiving cash as needed.
- Lead and support the annual budget and forecasting process for all assigned functional areas including relevant analysis and documentation of major variances.
- Assists with Preparation of monthly financial packages and variance analysis against budget and prior periods.
- Identify and recommend enhancements with respect to content, process, and controls.
- Provide financial and strategic support to senior management and the owners, including preparing board presentations, financial presentations, and other projects.
- Meet with division leads to discuss monthly variances to budget and any organizational changes that may affect financials.
- Partner with Accounting and HR to report monthly expenses and headcount across the firm’s divisions and markets.
- Other duties assigned to ensure proper functions of the team.
- Experience with structured ERP systems (Adaptive, Anaplan, etc.) will provide a great advantage
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills (Power Query, Power Pivot and Power BI skills is a plus)
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA and/or CFA a plus.
- Senior Associate: 5+ years of experience in FP&A roles, managerial-level skills, hedge fund, investment bank or private equity firm strongly preferred.
- Associate: 2-3 years of experience in FP&A or financial reporting roles, hedge fund, investment bank or private equity firm strongly preferred.
- Interested candidates need demonstrated ability to:
- Partner with deal teams and run complex financial modeling (solid Excel and PPT skills)
- Apply deep understanding of deal structuring and real estate financing.
- Think commercially, strategically, and creatively; interpret and present analysis thoughtfully.
- Deliver excellent work product in a timely fashion with high attention to detail.
- Collaborate well with others and develop strong relationships.
- Deal with ambiguity and comfortably navigate through complex tasks with little guidance.
- Prioritize and manage multiple deadlines and deliver a quality product under tight time constraints.
- Be solution-oriented when presenting problems.
- Seek out, understand, and follow developing industry trends.
