Position Purpose:
This position, Senior Analyst - Tax Systems, a part of the Indirect tax team, is responsible for supporting sales/use tax collection obligation. This includes responsibility for products and services taxability tools, tax calculation engines and customer exemption certificate management systems. This position will provide support for sales/use/GST/PST/QST tax audits, compliance, and new business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- 80% Tax Planning, Accounting, Research, Compliance, and Audit Defense as needed to meet the goals of the Department. May serve as principal contact on one or more projects with governmental officials, outside counsel, and business partners. May lead or participate in special studies to determine tax implications of company operations. May be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely filing of tax returns, and for the accurate statement of accounting reserves, including FAS 109 and FIN 48 where applicable. May serve as liaison between SSC and subsidiary businesses in the US and internationally.
- 10% Participation on cross-functional teams as a subject-matter expert
- 10% Coaching and mentoring of associates in the department
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
- Reports to Tax Manager
- No associates report to this role on a permanent basis, but requires the leadership of a work group: assign and review work, train and contribute to performance appraisal (but not hiring, firing or disciplinary action).
Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:

CPA, CMI preferred3-6 years’ experience preferred

Experience with Tax Engine (Vertex, Taxware SUT, AvaTax and SOVOS GTD)

Alteryx, Power BI, and Google Big Query experience preferred

Product and Services Taxability, Exemption Certificate Management, Tax Research and Accounting.

- The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
