Job Summary
Barings’ Investment Grade Corporate team is seeking an investment professional with five to seven years of work experience for a senior credit analyst position. The candidate selected will join an eleven-person analyst team in Charlotte, NC and will be responsible for analyzing and evaluating investment opportunities for the Investment Grade Corporates team, which manages assets in excess of $56 billion. The Associate Director level candidate will have the opportunity for lead coverage on specific sectors (or sub-sectors).
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide analysis of investment grade corporate credits within the Utilities sector
- Financial analysis and modeling
- Evaluate companies and the risks related to investing in debt securities across the capital structure
- Individual security analysis, including capital structure and indenture analysis, cash flow and liquidity analysis and total return and relative value assessment
- Meet with management teams, develop industry contacts, and utilize other information sources to become an expert in assigned coverage
- Produce clear and concise research reports based on independent observation and analysis
- Produce quarterly industry reviews and communicate recommendations to portfolio management
- Collaborate with other Barings’ investment teams optimizing efficiencies and framing relative value within sectors
- Assist with special ad-hoc projects, presentations and initiatives
Qualifications
- Five to seven years of credit analyst experience—either investment grade or high yield/bank debt
- CFA and/or MBA preferred
- Client presentation experience preferred
- Excellent writing and communications skills
- Ability to work as a member of a fast-paced, transaction oriented team
- Self-starter, must be organized and able to work independently
- Ability to prioritize work and multi-task responsibilities
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet time-sensitive deadlines
- Strong computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office applications, Bloomberg, etc
- Some travel required
