Join us as a Senior Analyst in our Funds Management Performance & Analytics team. 

  • Our Performance & Analytics team is a high performing, collaborative and business orientated team that work closely with our Funds Management business, Treasury and Finance teams to support Challenger’s overall strategy. 

  • In this key role you’ll provide insights to a wide range of stakeholders which will support strategic decision-making. 

  • We work flexibly from our Sydney CBD Office where you can expect to work 3 days in the office and 2 days from home. 

What you’d be doing in this role  

As a Senior Analyst you will be a key business support to Senior Management within Funds Management and Finance by delivering the Funds Management monthly performance result, supporting the annual budget and forecasting process and driving performance and process improvements.  

 

You will have opportunities to present, build relationships and provide value add analysis and reporting to senior stakeholders and contribute to strategic initiatives. 

Team members take ownership and are accountable for their own deliverables as well as supporting and leveraging their fellow team members. Our Business Performance team is highly valued throughout the organisation, and you will have instant exposure to senior management giving you great exposure and learning opportunities. 

In this role, your key responsibilities will include (but aren't limited to) 

  • Ownership and delivery of the monthly Funds Management month end process including management reporting, analysis of actual vs budget variances for revenue, expenses and funds under management (FUM). 

  • Conduct detailed financial analysis of the monthly results including budget variance analysis, volume and margin analysis, investment/product and FUM performance 

  • Developing monthly financial packs and board paper reporting for senior stakeholders within tight deadlines. 

  • Preparing half year end and year end analyst pack metrics and various market disclosures 

  • Supporting the Head of FM Business Performance on a range of regular and ad hoc reporting deliverables for Senior Management 

  • Build excel based models for analysis and ad-hoc reporting  

  • Partnering with stakeholders to develop, prepare and maintain budgets and forecasts. 

  • Preparing and maintaining the budget and rolling forecast within Anaplan 

  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual reporting for leadership team and investor relations, annual Three-Year Plan, Budget, and forecasting processes. 

  • Manage continuous improvement projects and automation of the Funds Management Business including cloud-based reporting in Workiva and Workday as well as other business platform support. 

We’ll also look to you to identify opportunities to innovate and improve business processes to increase efficiencies and reduce risk. 

The skills you’ll need: 

  • You'll have a strong analytical background with relevant experience from a financial control/financial assurance/management accounting/business performance/financial analysis type role.   

  • You’ll need to be CA/CPA/CFA (or equivalent financial qualification) qualified.   

  • You’ll have strong working knowledge of financial accounting concepts with a critical thinking and analytical mind set. 

You’ll also have: 

  • Strong self-motivation and drive, including planning and organisational skills. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to help communicate complex data in a concise and clear manner to your wider team and stakeholders. 

  • Strong MS Excel skills - with experience of building excel based models for analysis and ad-hoc reporting.  

  • Experience with Anaplan or other forecasting & reporting tools (e.g., PowerBI, Workiva, Workday) is highly regarded but not essential. 

  • The ability to translate and present financial concepts and reporting to none finance stakeholders.
