Position Summary:

In this role you will aggregate, organize and analyze data, and create reports, dashboards, and presentations that translate data into meaningful information to facilitate tactical and strategic decision-making. The compilation, analysis and interpretation of financial data requires significant problem-solving interpretation and communication so you will use your technical skills to resolve business issues and begin to design, develop and implement business applications to meet customer needs and goals.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Working with different stakeholders, construct and maintain financial and operational analysis models as tools to aid in data analysis
  • Analyze causes of variance using accounting entries
  • Prepare communications including reports that can be used for upper-level reports, create presentations and dashboards
  • Aggregate and organize financial data from multiple platforms and systems and suggest procedural changes to increase the accuracy, effectiveness, and efficiency of models and reports used or produced by the team
  • Document work processes, including data sources and definitions.
  • Ensure data accuracy and completeness
  • Frequently interact and coordinate with other departments to address business issues and to meet organizational objectives
  • Support the development of analysis of company financial performance, including both revenue and expenses. Interpret data and identify trends to help leadership understand drivers of results, make decisions, and develop strategy
  • Work on projects to improve analytical, planning, and forecasting capabilities.

Position Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of corporate finance, analysis, or accounting experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, economics, or equivalent
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Insurance experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Excel including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs and formulas
  • Strong knowledge of financial statements (income statements, balance sheets and cash flows)
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting and planning and forecasting systems, e.g., Adaptive, Workday, Oracle, TM1, Hyperion
  • Ability to work through shifting priorities and deadlines
  • Knowledge of insurance concepts, products, and distribution preferred but not required
  • The selected candidate will work a hybrid work schedule which will require weekly reporting to our Chicago office
