KLUTCH seeks a Senior Analyst for the Baseball Operations department to develop, evaluate, and optimize predictive models that enhance decision-making across all aspects of the business. The Senior Analyst will collaborate closely with the Baseball Operations team, Klutch Baseball Agents, and other stakeholders to influence recruiting decisions, contract negotiations, player development, and strategic initiatives. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply advanced statistical techniques and data science to shape the agency’s approach to recruiting, contract negotiations, player development, and strategic initiatives.
The salary range for this role is $80,000 to $90,000 commensurate with experience and skills.
What You Will Do
- Provide comprehensive support with importing, cleaning, and preparing baseball data sets for detailed analysis
- Design and implement custom database queries tailored to meet specific data retrieval requirements
- Support Baseball Operations staff in conducting research and analysis to enhance recruiting efforts and uncover new insights and opportunities
- Aid in the statistical analysis and modeling of baseball-related data
- Assist in creating, developing, testing, and maintaining specialized data collection systems and tools
- Regularly review and analyze publicly available baseball research
- Develop an understanding of new data sources
- Provide support during major baseball events, including the Rule 4 Draft and Free Agency
- Identify and analyze player comparisons for free agency and salary arbitration
- Build and organize an amateur and professional recruiting network
- Address ad hoc requests from the Baseball Operations teams and undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the staff of the Baseball Operations Department
- Design and maintain robust predictive models and data pipelines to generate insights for player evaluation, recruiting, development, and performance optimization
- Developing data-driven, client-facing presentations
What You Will Need
- 3+ years of experience in a data analytics role, preferably within baseball operations or sports analytics
- MLB team experience is required
- Experience with MLB Draft processes, player development, and scouting analytics is highly preferred
- Demonstrated professional experience with Python, R, or similar programming languages for statistical analysis and data visualization
- Demonstrated professional experience with SQL for similar languages for database queries and understanding of database design principles
- Demonstrated knowledge of baseball-specific data, advanced statistical methods, and sabermetric analysis
- Highly motivated with a keen eye for detail
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Strong organizational skills
