The primary purpose of this position is to lead the design and coordination of advanced mapping solutions for Mercedes-Benz autonomous driving (AD) systems. As a Map Technology Specialist, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing cutting-edge map technologies that enhance the customer experience and shape the future of Mercedes-Benz vehicles. This position requires expertise in automotive maps, AD systems, and the ability to collaborate effectively with global teams to drive innovation in vehicle navigation and autonomous capabilities.
Relocation assistance (domestic or international) is not provided for this position.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design and coordinate map usage for automotive AD systems, ensuring optimal integration and performance
- Collaborate with global system developers to specify and refine map requirements for autonomous driving applications
- Develop and implement tools to validate map quality, ensuring high standards of accuracy and reliability
- Lead and execute collaboration projects with map suppliers to enhance and customize mapping solutions for Mercedes-Benz vehicles
- Foster strong relationships and effective communication within global teams across Germany, China, India, and other countries
- Stay at the forefront of mapping technology trends and innovations in the automotive industry
- Contribute to the development of proprietary AD maps and navigation systems
- Analyze and optimize map data to improve autonomous driving capabilities and user experience
- Participate in cross-functional teams to align map technology with overall vehicle systems and features
Minimum Qualifications:
- MS degree in Computer Science or a similar discipline (mechanical, computer, computer science, geodesy, etc)
- 5+ years of relevant work experience
- Experience with automotive maps
- Experience with machine learning and sensor perception algorithms and software
- Experience with cloud infrastructure
- Experience with automotive vehicle sensor data
- Strong coding skills in Python
- Experience with map-related tools like QGIS or ArcGIS
- Valid US Driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of industrial experience in autonomous driving
- 3+ years of experience with automotive maps and AD perception
- German language skills B2 or better
The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on a wide range of factors, including, but not limited to, job-related education, skills, and experience, geographic location, and market conditions. The current salary range for this position is as follows and may be modified in the future: $122,700 - $153,400.
