Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Provide rating model, pricing, and analytical support to Product and Underwriting management
  • Apply predictive modeling techniques to analyze risk and advance rate and risk selection models
  • Design and manage infrastructure for actuarial data warehouses
  • Conduct reserve analyses and profit reviews quarterly
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate with management
  • Lead the development and maintenance of rating and financial models
  • Keep abreast of current industry and actuarial developments
  • Monitor industry trends in frequency and severity, and investigate any material differences between external/internal trends
  • Pass actuarial exams in a timely manner
  • Other duties may be assigned

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or other related field; four or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Predictive analytics experience.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks
  • Completion of four or more actuarial exams
  • Advanced knowledge of databases, data extraction, and data analytics methods
  • Superior attention to detail and accuracy
  • Capable of working in a team environment
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, along with financial reporting knowledge and experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in order to successfully communicate technical work to a non-technical audience
  • Intellectually curious, with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial lines insurance products, including general liability, property, automobile, businessowners, inland marine, and umbrella

Computer Skills

  • Advanced Excel, Visual Basic, Access and Word skills
