Radiant is an El-Segundo, CA-based clean energy startup building a nuclear microreactor. A climate-friendly alternative to diesel generators, Radiant's Kaleidos 1MW microreactor will be the world's first portable, zero-emissions power source that works anywhere. We plan to test our development reactor by 2026 and if successful, it will be the first new commercial reactor design to achieve a fueled test in over 50 years. Radiant's goal is to bring one of the world's first factory-constructed microreactors to market. Our microreactor can bring power to remote parts of the world and provide backup power for life-saving applications in hospitals or disaster-relief scenarios.
Director of Accounting
Radiant is seeking a Director of Accounting to play a crucial role in our Finance department to manage all accounting activities to ensure compliance with US GAAP, corporate policies, and external audits. This person will lead the monthly closing of accounts and preparation of reports in support of the financial statements. You will lead interface with External Auditors to ensure proper controls are in place. The ideal candidate possesses leadership capabilities, solid operational and technical accounting background, inventory control and works proactively to drive results. This person is a self-starter, flexible, has a high level of integrity and is action-oriented in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Refine our monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, implementing new controls to improve our record-to-report and close accuracy
- Lead our audits, liaising with internal teams and external auditors to ensure we are always in compliance and mitigating business/financial risk
- Recommend tax strategies aligned with the company’s goals, ensuring efficient tax planning and compliance
- Oversee federal, state, and local tax filings ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations
- Perform reconciliations as needed for payments and ensure compliance with all company and regulatory requirements.
- Receive, review, and help process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy of payment terms and reporting.
- Lead accounting automation projects, focusing on scalable finance and reporting system design, implementation, and maintenance.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field.
- 10+ years’ experience working with hardware or inventory accounting (public/private).
- In-depth understanding of US GAAP.
- Experience with general ledger functions.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- CPA desired
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
- Strength in effective communication and proactive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfort juggling multiple projects and ability to prioritize.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to achieve company goals.
- Must work 100% onsite at El Segundo HQ.
