About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accounts Receivable Accountant to join our finance team. This role is responsible for managing the AR process, ensuring timely collections, reconciling accounts, and improving billing and payment processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Revenue and Technical Accounting.
Please note that this role is based in our Redwood City, CA office, and the hybrid schedule requires three days per week on-site (typically Tuesday through Thursday).
You will…
- Oversee the accounts receivable process, ensuring accurate invoicing and timely collections.
- Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies or payment issues.
- Monitor aging reports and follow up on past-due invoices to reduce outstanding balances.
- Work closely with internal teams to streamline billing and cash application processes.
- Review and enhance AR policies and procedures to improve efficiency and compliance.
- Prepare AR reports, including cash forecasts and month-end close reconciliations.
- Assist in financial audits by providing necessary documentation and support.
- Collaborate with customers to address billing inquiries and ensure smooth payment processing.
- Support system improvements and automation initiatives for AR functions
- Work collaboratively across departments (legal, sales, sales operations, etc.) to continuously improve billing, collections, and reporting processes for efficiency, scalability, and customer experience.
- Post month-end and quarter-end accounting close entries and prepare reconciliations including deferred revenue entries, bad debt reserve, and royalty accruals.

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of AR or general accounting experience
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Oracle and Excel. Experience with Oracle Fusion preferred.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and ability to multi-tasks.
- Knowledge: Understanding of US GAAP principles and AR best practices.

At Carbon, we look at the person holistically and carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining salary. The compensation bracket for this position is $100,000 - $150,000 per year. In order to maintain equitable internal pay practices, we aim to hire new employees near the midpoint of $125,00, taking into account your experience, work location, certifications, and the unique skills you bring to the role.
