Job Description Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing general accounting and cost accounting activities in a team-based environment that supports the St. Louis Plant manufacturing facility.
Job Description
Essential Functions
- Responsible for general accounting which may include journal entries, account reconciliations, inventory transactions, accounts payable, etc.
- Perform the monthly close process and prepare required financial reports and analysis.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and annual strategic plans.
- Provide support in the calculation of annual standard product costs. Review and analyze inventory movements and ensure inventory transactions are recorded timely and accurately.
- Ensure the St. Louis Plant manufacturing facility is compliant with GAAP and all Company financial policies/procedures.
- Assist with requests to support Sarbanes-Oxley compliance to ensure internal controls are functioning properly
- Provide support for external/internal audit requests as required.
- Physical inventories, fixed asset counts, etc.
- Provide support for capital investment processes.
- Continuously improve accounting and reporting processes and systems.
- Prepare and provide information as required to support ad-hoc reporting.
- Provide financial support for the calculation of cost reduction project savings.
- Participate in manufacturing site meetings and activities as required.
Requirements Education / Experience / Skills
- Minimum of an undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university with emphasis in Accounting or Finance. MBA preferred.
- 5 or more years accounting
- Experience with accounting and forecasting, manufacturing experience preferred.
- Thorough working knowledge of GAAP.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to interact positively with employees at all levels of the organization regarding accounting and finance.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent skills using Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with Hyperion Planning preferred.
- Experience with enterprise systems such as JDE, BPCS or other AS400 systems preferred.
- Must be able to work in a team-oriented, fast paced environment.
Organizational Relationship/Scope
Position reports directly to the St. Louis Plant Accounting Manager. This position will interact will all levels of management throughout the company and with non-exempt employees. The work environment is an office setting.
