ABOUT THE ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

The Senior Accountant will play a critical role within our Accounting Team. The successful candidate is diligent with outstanding communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills. The Senior Accountant's responsibilities include overseeing the daily integration of interest/principal collections, fundings, and revenue entries into the accounting system, maintaining financial records and reports, performing operational account reconciliations, and assisting with close processes. You will master day-to-day accounting operations emphasizing bank account reconciliations, system reconciliations including reconciliations of daily cash collections and fundings, integration of loan activity into accounting systems, partner commissions, and implement the necessary solutions for any discrepancies. You will collaborate with colleagues across the company as well as external consultants to provide continuous process improvements.

This role is a hybrid work schedule of 3-5 days in our corporate office. Currently, the team is in one day a week. However, training during the first 30 days will be in the office a couple of days a week.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE A HIGH PERSONAL STANDARD OF EXCELLENCE, A DRIVE FOR RESULTS, AND A PROACTIVE, “CAN-DO” ATTITUDE AND WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Oversee daily operational accounting processes, including the processing and reconciliation of cash receipts, loan servicing adjustments, and recording of revenue and receivables, ensuring that they are accurately recorded in the systems assigned and properly captured in the financial statements.
  • Oversee integration activities on a daily basis and maintain the interface between systems, ensuring data from the Company’s proprietary loan servicing platform and general ledger match the bank statement activity.
  • Prepare, maintain, and post intricate journal entries (daily, monthly, adjusting, and recurring) based on a thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP.
  • Focus on analyzing and reconciling various bank accounts in a highly complex environment with a large volume of cash transactions.
  • Assume a significant role in the month-end, quarter end, and year-end closing process, including preparation of account reconciliations and roll-forwards for key balance sheet accounts and general ledger accounts analysis. Analyze and compile financial data for quarter- and year-end accounting and audit/tax schedules.
  • Exercise accuracy in calculating and reconciling numbers from different data sources; periodically test reports to improve operations and compliance.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of accounting logic configuration modifications to system interface processes to support the rollout of new loan products and set-up of securitization vehicles and to ensure the production of correct accounting entries; understand and guide others on the accounting logic of system interfaces and instruct them on how to reconcile financial data and transactions between systems.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls, systems, and procedures to maintain effective control over daily operations and support an audit control environment with complete documentation and strongly controlled processes.
  • Escalate and work to resolve issues that serve as roadblocks and/or place project objectives at risk.
  • Research and resolve legacy and new reconciliation differences between the general ledger and source systems.
  • Oversee team resources to ensure work volume is processed accurately and completed promptly.
  • Assist with user testing and documentation of workflows.
  • Assist in any other tasks assigned.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES HAVE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting is required and you are a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • 3 + years of relevant corporate accounting experience. Financial Services industry experience is a plus.
  • Command of US GAAP principles and concepts; proven ability to apply US GAAP on the job.
  • Ability to navigate through complexity and to effectively address issues in collaboration with others.
  • Able to work comfortably under pressure and meet tight deadlines; comfortable prioritizing multiple work streams across daily responsibilities and long-term projects.
  • Have an “exceed expectations” attitude and take ownership from start to finish of tasks/projects.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task, a “go-getter” mentality, and ability to independently problem-solve and make decisions.
  • Ability to lead/participate in special projects or process improvements as assigned, proactively working to make improvements that positively impact the culture, employees, and the organization
  • Excellent communicator and proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Flexibility in hours as required for deliverable deadlines and as needed during high volume and financial close
  • Adept at spreadsheet-based analysis and numbers-based problem solving, including the ability to synthesize financial data into accurate and precise presentations of information
  • Experience using ERP accounting software, Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred. Familiarity with accounting software integration is helpful.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced excel skills over large amounts of data (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, etc.)
