Role Summary
We are currently seeking an experienced and hands-on Senior Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting team. Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for key aspects of the monthly and quarterly financial statement close process, including preparing journal entries and reconciliations, supporting process improvements and compliance with internal controls, and providing key analyses to help drive business objectives. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience and will be a collaborative team player who enjoys working in a highly dynamic, cross-disciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Play an important role in accurate and timely month-end, and quarter-end close processes – including preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, flux analyses, and other deliverables covering a variety of areas (e.g., cash, investments, prepaids, fixed assets, operating expenses, and others)
- Responsible for reviewing contracts for accounting and financial impact, and obtaining and validating financial information from third-party vendors and internal team members to ensure that accrual estimates are complete and accurate
- Prepare accrual estimates to support clinical trials, clinical manufacturing, early discovery, and other R&D and G&A activities
- Analyze financial statement accounts, and help identify and explain key trends to validate accuracy of transactions and balances
- Support process improvements and compliance with SOX internal controls, including implementation of systems and other capabilities to help scale with company growth
- Prepare audit deliverables and interact regularly with internal and external auditors
- Assist with the preparation of schedules and supporting documentation to support our SEC filings, including Form 10-K’s and 10-Q’s
- Perform other month-end close activities, and special projects as needed to support the Accounting and Finance function
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
- 5+ years of total accounting experience, preferably in a fast-growing or public biotech company, and/or public accounting experience
- Good foundational understanding of GAAP and SOX internal control requirements
- Experience with GL module of ERP systems (NetSuite experience preferred)
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite with intermediate to advanced Excel functionality
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong attention to detail with ability to analyze and solve problems
- Strong organization and prioritization skills, and ability to muti-task to ensure deadlines are met with high quality output
- Highly motivated with the ability to work independently, ethically and responsibly, and work closely with and as part of the finance team

- Ability and willingness to travel up to 15%
The anticipated salary range for candidates for this role will be $100,000-$115,000. The final salary offered will depend on several factors, which may include, but is not limited to relevant years of experience, educational background, and geography.
