This software engineering opportunity sits within the Infrastructure group at Kensho, specifically on the Security team. This is a perfect role for someone starting their career as a software engineer and wants exposure to gaining core security skills. The broadinfrastructure team is responsible for building systems and frameworks that are leveraged engineering-wide. You can expect to find common best practices, languages, and tooling, providing good long-term opportunities for internal mobility and career development.
As a software engineer on the Security team at Kensho you will be responsible for building systems and frameworks that will be used by developers across the organization. You will be working on a team with experienced engineers and have an opportunity to learn and grow. You will have a birds eye view of the breadth of projects that are being worked on in the organization and be able to see all your work being integrated into the SDLC workflow immediately.

Kensho states that the anticipated base salary range for the position is 120k - 140k. In addition, this role is eligible for an annual incentive bonus and equity plans. At Kensho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. This opportunity is based in Cambridge, MA or New York City.

What You'll Do:
- Work with other teams and departments, such as ML and Apps, to build reliable systems
- Leverage regularly sanctioned time (Knowledge Days!) for continuous learning and exploration beyond our day-to-day work
- Design core, backend software components that powers the Kensho language models and other products
- Build tools to empower the engineering teams
- Code using primarily python, jsonnet, and other languages
- Collaborate with other teams to gather requirements and support their workflows
- Conduct architecture, design and code reviews
- Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources
Team-specific sampling:
- Write server-side and user-facing applications built on top of our machine learning capabilities
- Design interfaces, APIs, and services that address immediate needs with an eye for future scaling and reuse
- Develop the right abstractions to enable observability & deployment to our core platform
- Build data ingestion & processing for stand-alone software products and machine learning R&D

- At least one core expertise, such as distributed computing or deep knowledge of one of the technologies we use
- Practical understanding of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns
- Personal projects, open source contributions, or a portfolio of work
- Versatility and adaptability to contribute across various teams and/or suite of products
