STR is seeking a Security Director to lead its expanding security team. This role will oversee Industrial and Program Security across all STR locations, managing an Industrial Security Manager, two Program Security Managers and a Physical Security Principal responsible for collateral, SCI, and SAP security programs. The Security Director will collaborate with STR’s technical divisions to facilitate business growth and outcomes while ensuring compliance with applicable government security requirements in a challenging security environment. This position will report directly to the Vice President of Security.
The Security Director is responsible for all security disciplines, including Industrial Security, OPSEC, Program Security, PHYSEC, PERSEC, INFOSEC, and COMSEC. This role requires strategic vision, strong leadership, and a proactive approach to developing a best-in-class security program. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance, deliver exceptional security services, and foster strong internal and external relationships while promoting teamwork, empowerment, quality, resilience, and professional growth.
Responsibilities Include, but Are Not Limited To:
- Lead and manage Industrial Security and Special Programs across all locations.
- Provide oversight and strategic direction for security projects and initiatives.
- Collaborates with the Director, Classified Cybersecurity for support for all classified information systems.
- Collaborate with leadership to align security programs with STR’s business objectives.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure compliance and operational effectiveness.
- Foster a culture of trust and empowerment by setting clear expectations, delegating effectively, and ensuring accountability.
- Coach, mentor, and develop security team members to enhance performance and expertise.
- Track and monitor security projects, assess risks, and mitigate threats.
- Develop and implement security policies and best practices aligned with company growth.
- Partner with technical and operations leadership on security matters impacting STR.
- Ensure compliance with ICD 705, DoD Manual 5205.07, NISPOM, and other relevant directives.
- Oversee security budgeting and execution for expenses and capital investments.
- Support technical staff throughout the program lifecycle, from proposal to closeout.
- Manage security space expansion by overseeing the physical security principal.
- Standardize policies and procedures across sites to eliminate redundancy.
- Conduct internal security reviews and assist with government inspections.
Skills & Requirements:
- This position requires an active Top-Secret Security Clearance with SCI and SAP eligibility security clearance, for which U.S. citizenship is needed by U.S. Government.
- Established relationships within key Intelligence Community and Department of Defense security organizations.
- Ability to think beyond conventional approaches; interprets policy with a solution-oriented mindset.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) with 12+ years in security, or an advanced degree with 10+ years of experience.
- 7+ years of leadership experience managing security-related teams and projects.
- Expertise in program security, industrial security, physical security, personnel security, information security, and security education.
- Familiarity with DISS, NISS, and JADE.
- Project or Program Management experience (PMP certification is a plus).
- Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Proven ability to lead cross-division security initiatives and support STR’s continued growth.
- Ability to travel as needed.
