Job Description
The Global Custody Tax Product Management function is global, with regional management across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC. The successful candidate will join the APAC Global Custody Tax Product Management Team in Hong Kong, which is responsible for the end to end ownership of tax intelligence and relief processing related matters impacting APAC domiciled clients and investment markets.
As a Global Custody Tax Product Manager within the Securities Service team, you will be part of a team responsible for management and control of the Global Custody business with the specific aim, along with the Business leads, Operations, Product Control function, and Client teams, to run the Global Custody Tax function end to end.
You will leverage your tax knowledge and experience by translating tax law into business requirements. You will help drive the future and by setting, maintaining, and owning tax service definitions for the custody business in the APAC region, providing subject matter expertise, leadership and guidance to business partners in relation to the custody tax product, and engaging in industry representative efforts related to new or amending tax legislation and associated administrative procedures.
You will act as the face of the Custody Tax Product with Clients by supporting client meetings, requests for proposals, and deal presentations. In this role, you will also be engaged in governance and quality assurance of custody tax solutions and operating models, as well as assessing opportunities and threats of external and internal changes from a tax perspective.
This role provides an opportunity to work closely with various teams and directly impact the product and service offerings of the custody business as well as the markets in which Clients invest.
Job Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and management of implementation of tax changes across APAC markets. Assess impact to product and service offering to custody business locations and their respective clients. Manage appropriate internal and external communications.
  • Management of the oversight model ensuring that tax regulations and associated reporting obligations are met in each market. Review and refine the oversight model resulting from changes in market requirements and/or business structure.
  • Maintenance of relevant internal / external materials reflecting current state of local law, treaty, including entity level taxation of various types of investor
  • Management of tax information in JPMorgan's Tax Intelligence platform
  • Working with advisors and industry participants to oversee the tax service in the local markets
  • Drive advocacy efforts through industry associations and other market participants
  • Drafting of market flashes and associated policies, tax product materials, etc.
  • Collaboration with the Operations and Corporate Tax teams to assess the impact of Market & Regulatory developments on the Global Custody Tax product offering. Ensure that resultant solutions meet agreed requirements / standards.
  • Defining and implementing new and / or enhanced tax product features and functions
  • Supporting client requests that require a change to the custody tax service offering. Conduct business assessments, define / create solutions and manage the implementation.
  • Assist with new business initiatives such as responses to Requests for Proposal and due diligence client presentations


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 8+ years working in a professional services firm, a financial services firm, and/or product management role in a tax technical role.
  • Ability to move process change, from the definition of initial requirements through to the delivery of the end solution.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically with respect to product strategy and development agenda.
  • Proven expertise in developing, prioritising and delivering business solutions.
  • Strong presentation skills and demonstrable client facing experience.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • Experience in managing and influencing key business partners and cross-functional stakeholders for the delivery of the services.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide tax regulatory and product updates for clients
  • Strong organisational and planning skills and a track record of delivery
  • Capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams in multiple locations across APAC, WHEM and EMEA


Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Juris Doctorate and/or LLM in Taxation degree
  • Experience working with tax laws in a variety of jurisdictions and in respect of Securities Taxation services delivered by a custodian
  • Local language skills such as Mandarin or Japanese
