Job Description
Reporting to the Chief Power Engineer, this position operates the steam boilers as well as the High-Pressure boiler for the deodorizer, the deodorizer vacuum system refrigeration equipment, as well as operations of the wastewater treatment plant and cooling towers.
Primary function is to ensure that these processes and boilers are operated and controlled in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with government regulations and Company standards.
Primary Responsibilities / Essential Functions:
- Monitor and operate plant boilers including all ancillary equipment in the facility, such as Water Treatment Systems, Air Compressors, Wastewater Treatment Systems, and Refrigeration Systems
- Respond to equipment issues or alarms; investigates and initiates resolution
- Ensures compliance with Company safety rules and wears proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) as required in fulfillment of assigned responsibilities
- Additional responsibilities include monitoring and adjustment of the water treatment plant, and cooling tower water quality and the operation of the Deodourizer vacuum system refrigeration system.
- Work in an organized, safe, and clean manner, ensuring work area is kept clean and free from all safety hazards
Qualifications
- Must have completed Second Class Boiler / Power Engineer Ticket (may consider Third Class Ticket with all exams completed)
- Must have a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.
- Able to operate machinery and computer control systems along with regulatory food safety, safety and environment requirements.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude, effective oral and written communication skills, basic math and fundamental PC skills
- Must be well organized, self-motivated and action oriented and able to work effectively in a team environment.

- Must possess a passion for the agriculture industry, and ambitious to grow with a company.
- Must be able to participate in a shift rotation as part of continuous operations, which will require working weekends, evenings, holidays, etc.
- Must be comfortable working at heights or in confined spaces.
- Must be able to withstand extended periods of walking, standing, stair climbing and ladders, etc.
- Must be able to move, lift, push, pull and grasp manufacturing materials, products and equipment of 50 lbs or more, which may require regular bending and crouching.
- Able to thrive and work in diverse, challenging and changing environments, including hot/cold outdoors/indoors, varying degrees of dirt, dust, odor, sound, etc.
- Must participate in shiftwork rotations and overtime in a facility which has continuous operations, working 200 hours in a 5 week period, including day and night shifts, weekends, holidays, etc.
