Summary/Objective


The SEC Reporting Manager will be responsible for ensuring Angel Studios meets all financial reporting requirements as a publicly traded company. You will lead the preparation of SEC filings and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations. You will also be responsible for leading our internal audit function and making sure the Company is in compliance with SOX. This is a critical role that will work closely with senior management, auditors, and other stakeholders to maintain the highest level of financial integrity and transparency.

Essential Functions

  • Lead the preparation and filing of SEC reports, including 10-Qs, 10-Ks, 8-Ks, and other public filings in compliance with SEC regulations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, footnotes, MD&A, and other disclosures required for public reporting.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
  • Manage XBRL tagging for SEC filings and ensure compliance with SEC's electronic filing requirements.
  • Stay current with SEC, FASB, and other regulatory changes affecting financial reporting and ensure company compliance with these updates.
  • Collaborate with the accounting and finance teams to gather necessary data for financial disclosures and ensure accurate and timely filings.
  • Maintain a detailed calendar of filing deadlines and requirements.
  • Assist with earnings releases and investor presentations, providing financial data and ensuring consistency with SEC filings.
  • Support the initial implementation and eventually oversee the internal controls over financial reporting process to ensure compliance with SOX and other public company requirements.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance (write memos) for complex transactions and other reporting matters.

Competencies

  • Deep knowledge of SEC regulations, GAAP, and SOX compliance.
  • Experience preparing and filing 10-Q, 10-K, and 8-K reports, including XBRL tagging.
  • Strong technical accounting skills, with the ability to interpret and apply complex accounting rules.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (NetSuite, Toppan Bridge, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external auditors.
  • Experience in entertainment, media, or tech industries is not required but is a plus.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA required.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in SEC reporting for a publicly traded company or equivalent public accounting experience.
