Job Title

Scrum Master

  • The Scrum Master will work with a multidisciplinary delivery team whose responsibility is to design and develop applications based on defined requirements. This Scrum Master role has additional solution delivery, coordination and communication responsibilities and is considered a senior and influential role. You will be working as part of a global distributed development organization using Agile Scrum methods.  

    Primary Objectives 

    • Lead the SCRUM development team to implementing solutions within a collaborative, high trust, solutions delivery team that will contain other developers, architects, product owners and DevOps engineers. 

    • Responsible and influential in the planning of solution delivery and the related release communication and coordination. 

    • Facilitate the SCRUM ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand up, refinement sessions and sprint retrospectives. 

    • First point of contact for topics like User Stories, maintenance of the Scrum artifacts like Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog, Burndown charts. 

    • Mentor and guide the team on how to use Agile practices and values. 

    • Facilitate discussion, decision-making and conflict resolution. 

    • Proactive identification of potential blockers and elimination of those for and with the team by bringing in relevant solutions and quality improvements (Moderation and mediation). 

    • Close collaboration with product owners and development teams. 

    • Support of the Scrum teams in regards to self-organization and takeover of responsibilities to reach the team and company goals. 

    • Strong verbal, written and organizational skills and a strong customer focus. 

    • Will perform additional job duties as required. 

    Knowledge & Skills 

    • Certified Scrum Master (SCM or PSM I or PSM II required). 

    • Experience in playing the Scrum Master role for at least 3+ years for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.  

    • Knowledge of various well-documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown technologies, various retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.). 

    • Experience in working on Payments domain or alternatively an equivalent high transaction volume industry/product. 

    • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency. 

    • Awareness and experience with general Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games. 

    • Experience in working on Java based projects is a nice to have. 

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as computer science, business informatics or mathematics. Comparable education or professional experience also considered. 

    • High on social skills, team spirit and empathy. 

    • Willingness to take ownership and ability to show strong personal commitment for the department and the team goals; must be comfortable with being considered a reliable and proactive influential team member who is not afraid to take on responsibility in the team. 

    • Ability to communicate clearly to business analysts and stakeholders as well as technical-representatives. 

    • Very strong and proven communication and coordination skills, open-minded and determined. 

    • Very organized and highly competent in solving issues and finding solutions.
