The Opportunity:

Design and Innovation: Conceptualize and synthesize novel peptides and peptidomimetics to advance our drug discovery pipeline, utilizing structure-based design and computational chemistry approaches to enhance properties, target engagement, potency, and selectivity.

Data-Driven Optimization: Leverage data from structural biology and DMPK (drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics) studies to iteratively refine peptide leads, ensuring optimal pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profiles for clinical development.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with biology, pharmacology, structural biology, and ADME teams to accelerate lead optimization and candidate selection. This role will actively contribute to strategic decision-making across disciplines, fostering a culture of agility, innovation, and scientific excellence.

Technical Expertise and Method Development: Develop and implement novel synthetic methodologies, including peptide cyclization and ligation techniques, to expand the chemical space and diversify our peptide library.

Record Keeping and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain rigorous experimental documentation, contributing to internal knowledge-sharing and publishing findings in high-impact scientific journals and presentations.
Who you are:

Educational Background: Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Chemical Biology, or a closely related field with a concentration in peptide chemistry

Industry or academia experience: has >3 years relevant experience in medicinal chemistry

Advanced Synthetic Chemistry Skills: Proven expertise in peptide, peptidomimetic, and amino acid building block synthesis, with a strong focus on cyclization methodologies and chemical ligation techniques

Analytical Proficiency: Demonstrated experience with peptide characterization methods, including HPLC, MS, and NMR, with the ability to interpret complex datasets and apply insights to design optimization

Structure-Based Drug Design: Proficiency with molecular modeling and structure-based design tools, with an understanding of how to apply these methods to develop peptides with enhanced binding affinity and selectivity

Track Record of Scientific Rigor: A history of scientific excellence demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications, patents, and conference presentations

Collaborative Mindset: Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to teamwork, with an ability to thrive in an interdisciplinary and collaborative research setting

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $100,200 and $186,000 of hiring range. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
