Job Description
SUMMARY
Supports the tax function with sales/use tax compliance and accounting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepare sales/use tax, Ohio CAT, Canadian GST/HST and business and occupational (B&O) returns for review by senior staff.
- Perform month-end sales tax accounting and prepare data for submission to third-party return preparer.
- Assist with sales tax and business license processing, in addition to data collection for personal property tax returns
- Prepare monthly sales/use tax account reconciliations
- Compile audit data to support sales/use tax audits and communicate with auditors as required.
- Perform special projects for management and conduct tax research.
- Complete affidavits relating to sales tax adjustments or exempt projects.
- Prepare correspondence relating to notices from taxing authorities, resolution of issues, and process tax clearance requests as required.
- Assistance with preparation, setup, retention and submission of exemption certificates.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Minimum Degree: BS/BA in Accounting (curriculum must include 4 years of accounting).
- Special Tax Certifications – Indirect Tax (IPT I or II course completion, etc.) a plus.
- Special Requirements: Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, consistently meet deadlines and deal with diverse and rapidly changing priorities.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum experience: 2-4 years public accounting experience or diverse corporate transactional tax experience.
- Multi-state sales tax registrations, tax return preparation, compliance and reporting.
- Required Industry Experience (Construction, Insulation, Specialty Trades, etc.) preferred
- Legal Age Requirements: At least 18 years of age
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Experience with Multiple State and Local Jurisdiction Reporting (50+ state experience a plus)
- Highly articulate and capable of researching/troubleshooting issues and discussing accurate results with senior staff or various levels of management
- Strong tax/accounting foundation – ability to understand how tax transactions impact financial statements
- Well-developed problem solving and technical skills
- Experienced with tax research – able to relay findings in an accurate and professional manner
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with customers, peers, subordinates, and a general employee population
- Ability to work independently as required, but equally capable of working within a hierarchy or team environment
- Successful track record for meeting deadlines in a timely manner, and fulfilling project guidelines
- Proficient in Windows 10 and above (copying and naming files, sorting files and content, applying shortcuts)
- Proficient with use of Microsoft “Teams” (able to adjust microphone and headset settings, share screens, shift from chat to video, able to collaborate easily with colleagues, particularly if working remotely)
- Experience with leading, robust sales tax software
- Experience with larger, more robust financial reporting or ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or Sage.
- Proficiency with Excel - Intermediate to Advanced (experience with V and X Lookups, Sum If statements, Pivot Tables, fluid with large data sets, use of Ranges, and Tables) – Alteryx experience preferred
CRITICAL SKILLS DESIRED
- Proficiency with ETL systems a plus (e.g. Alteryx, Power BI, Power Pivots, etc.)
- Experience with robust tax software such as Thomson Reuters OneSource (f/k/a Sabrix) Tax Software, or Vertex (preferred software programs)

POSITION LOCATION
Onsite in Daytona Beach, FL. Onsite in Daytona, hybrid schedule possible.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed in a typical office environment and may require standing, bending, lifting of boxes or packages under 10 lbs., and sitting for long periods of time.
Work requires regularly inputting/retrieving words or data into or from an automated/computer system.
