Provides development expertise on mid to large sized product delivery teams, focused on solving complex problems.
Position Summary:
The Salesforce Staff Engineer will be a member of our Platform team and have expertise in Financial Service, Sales, Service and Marketing Cloud functionality within the Salesforce Platform. This role is responsible for leading the design, build (configuration and customization), implementation, documentation, and maintenance of functionality that meets the needs identified by Product Leadership. Successful candidates will have experience with large implementations along with broad knowledge of Salesforce and externally integrated capabilities. A visionary approach to designs and solutions is key to success in this role. Candidates will possess strong technical skills while emphasizing user experience and design-first approach.
Position Roles / Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
Solution Architecture / Systems Design:

Collaborate with product owners to develop, review, and present user stories.

Define system solutions that ensure alignment with industry best practices, technical strategies, and priorities.

Proficient in data modeling, designing custom objects, fields, and relationships to meet end-user needs.

Designing and implementing custom user-guided experience workflows.
-
Expertise in integrating Salesforce with external systems using APIs and middleware.
-
Understanding various integration patterns, including point-to-point integrations, middleware-based integrations, and event-driven architectures.

DevOps Experience - building and promoting the use of CI/CD pipelines for Salesforce and full stack development.
Leadership:
-
Provide Technical leadership to a product delivery team of 2-4 Salesforce Engineers.

Provide coaching/mentorship to delivery team Engineers on technical focused topics as well as engineers from other teams.

Be the model for oneself and the delivery team on keeping skill sets and expertise relevant with the latest Salesforce releases, features, and industry best practices.

Active participation in the technology community through forums, events, and/or open-source or personal project contributions.
Application Implementation & Oversight:

Provide oversight of delivery team code review processes to ensure the security, scalability, and maintainability of Salesforce solutions.

Deep understanding of patterns and value of unit testing, test classes, and test data creation to ensure code coverage and quality.

Thorough documentation of design decisions, code standards, and configurations for both development and end-user understanding.
Position Qualifications:
-
Extensive knowledge of Financial Service, Sales, and Service Clouds and Marketing Clouds.

7-10+ years of experience in the Salesforce engineering environment, taking abstract concepts and ideas and formulating a detailed software engineering plan.
-
Highly proficient in developing Apex Classes, Apex triggers, Batch Apex, JavaScript, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Visual Force (VF Pages).

1-3 years of recent work experience in several of the following integration technology stacks: Java, REST/ SOAP API, Spring Boot, Mongo DB, Change Data Capture, Platform Events, OpenShift, Docker, TC Server, Messaging Platforms (RabbitMQ, IBM MQ, Kafka).

Experience with CI/CD DevOps including using tools such as Visual Studio Code, Salesforce CLI, Git, Github, Github actions, Bitbucket, and Jira.

Versed in writing and maintaining automated tests scripts using frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress or Playwright, etc.

Proficiency using Salesforce's 2nd Generation Packaging, showcasing expertise in package creation, installation, and architectural design.

Exposure to working in a product operating model, leveraging an Agile scrum execution framework.

Experience collaborating directly with product owners and business partners.

Salesforce Admin and Developer certifications preferred.

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $136,721.00 - $184,976.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
