Role Summary 

Playing a pivotal part in the Environmental desk to drive sustainability and promote environmentally responsible practices globally. The Sales-Trader will be responsible for managing and expanding the portfolio of environmental products. The role involves executing trades, developing client relationships and providing market insights.

Responsibilities 

  • Trading and Execution: Execute trades in carbon credits, renewable energy certificates and biogas certificates in compliance with market regulations and company policies.
  • Client Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients and proactively identify new business opportunities with the Nordic region. Provide client with market insights, trading strategies and tailored solutions to meet their environmental compliance and sustainability goals.
  • Market Analysis and Research: Stay updated on market trends, regulatory changes, and economic developments in the environmental sector, particularly in the Nordic countries. Conduct market research and analysis to identify trading opportunities and support the development of new products.
  • Business Development: Collaborate with the business development team to identify and pursue new clients and market segments. Contribute to the strategic planning and growth initiatives of the environmental products division.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all trading activities comply with relevant regulatory requirements and internal risk management policies. Keep abreast of changes in environmental regulations and standard, particularly those affecting the Nordic markets.
  • Reporting and Documentation; Maintain accurate records of trades, client interactions, and market research. Prepare regular reports and presentations for Senior Management, highlighting market trends, trading performance, and business opportunities.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with internal teams, including sales, trading, research, and risk management, to ensure seamless execution and delivery of client solutions. Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders, providing clear and timely information on market developments and trading activities.

Skills and Experience 

  • Proactive mindset in keeping up to date with market regulations and incorporating into role efficiently.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationship.
  • In depth knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements in the environmental sector.
  • Insight into the economic and regulatory environment of the Nordic countries, including local market drivers and trends.
  • Ability to assess and manage trading risk effectively, including understanding of hedging strategies.
  • Capability to develop and implement effective trading strategies in environmental markets.
  • Knowledge of the underlying products at Marex within the Environmental and Renewable remit.
  • Up to date knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements in the environmental sector, particularly in the Nordic Region.

  • Excellent verbal written and communication skills.
  • A collaborative team player, that is approachable, self-efficient and influences a positive work environment.
  • Demonstrates curiosity.
  • Proven experience in sales trading, preferably environmental products or commodities. Familiarity with Nordic markets is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of carbon market, renewable energy certificates and other environmental products.

  • Strategic collaborator with insight and agility, able to anticipate future challenges, ensuring operational effectiveness
