Position PurposeThis position is a front-line Surety sales role, with production responsibilities based on territory. Under occasional supervision, the sales representative is tasked with developing and managing Surety sales opportunities across a defined region. Achieve sales goals by selling to, and developing relationships with agents. Selling will include both an existing agency plant, and the identification of new production sources. Representatives will develop a working knowledge of and promote other RLI surety products as directed. Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Selling and production of Surety business in a specified region.
- Achieve sales goals for assigned territory.
- Educate producers on the merits and use of the RLI bond issuance system.
- Promote other RLI surety products and provide respective points of contact where applicable.
- Attend association meetings and industry functions.
- Assist in special projects and other duties as needed.
- Role will require consistent travel.
Education & ExperienceA bachelor’s degree in business or a related field preferred and 1-2 years of experience in a similar field or position. In lieu of education, a minimum of 5 years of sales experience in surety or related field is desired.Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies
- Ability to use analytical methods in appointing agents to ensure the growth of the company’s surety product line.
- Ability to communicate findings and recommendations to management on insurance sales matters.
- Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with agencies on the company’s surety lines of business.
