Summary

The Sales Director will be responsible for driving sales growth in the Defense and Aerospace sector, managing complex sales cycles, and developing strategic sales plans. This role requires expertise in consultative selling, building and maintaining customer relationships, and coordinating multi-product offerings into large accounts. Effective communication and a track record of sales growth are essential for success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sale of multiple product lines that are part of Teledyne Microwave Solutions four factories into existing and new customers within a defined geographic territory.
  • Develop and maintain a territory sales management plan to effectively work opportunities and manage sales cycles. Implement Sales plans to meet individual and company goals. Maintain up to date opportunity and forecast information to allow management access to accurate data to make business decisions.
  • Participate and coordinate communications between the TMS business team and the customer to define and advance sales objectives.
  • Gain in depth customer knowledge to help guide new product and new capabilities development which will contribute to growth opportunities in markets served by customer base.
  • Work as part of a sales team to participate in more complex sales opportunities involving influencers in multiple locations.

Qualifications:

  • Experienced sales professional with history of selling electronic components, modules, subassemblies and systems to the Defense and Aerospace customer base.
  • Demonstrated performance using consultative sales processes to maximize exposure at all levels of a customer’s organization including engineering, program management, supply management and senior management.
  • Ability to establish relationships and credibility at Teledyne’s customer base.
  • Experience coordinating multi product offerings into large accounts with a track record of maximizing content on platforms/programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate through long and complex sales cycle processes that include discovery, specification and product definition, and contract negotiations. Experience in the Strategic Selling process and value pricing models.
  • History of sales growth via increased customer penetration, increased product mix at existing customer base and through identifying and adding customers to the customer base.
  • Demonstrated experience with time management and opportunity management tools to effectively cover a large geographic area.
  • Successful experience in defining opportunities and communicating them to factory personnel so that resources are allocated to maximize positive outcomes. Can identify, comprehend, and develop new TMS business opportunities based on customer and market experience.

Education and/or Experience:

  • B.S. in Engineering or Science or equivalent / related technical experience in electronic products.
  • 5+ years of account management sales experience with proven ability to learn / understand technical skills and terminology and communicate customer needs effectively to plant based product specialists.
  • Proven track record of diverse sales growth and account management of numerous existing and targeted new accounts.
  • Large account management and strategic selling skills.
  • New product validation and launch experience desirable.
  • Excellent organizational and inter-personal skills.
  • Highly computer literate (CRM, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Flexibility and readiness to travel (about 50-70% of the time).
  • You must have and maintain an unrestricted driver’s license.
  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Compensation Structure

The compensation for this position is composed of both a fixed salary and a commission component. The salary is designed to provide a stable income, while the commission is performance-based and may vary. The overall compensation package is competitive and reflects the value we place on the contributions of our team members. Specific details will be discussed during the interview process.
