KBR is looking for a safety specialist to implement the comprehensive safety, health, and environmental requirements identified in KBR safety procedures and performs safety recordkeeping and database entry for compliance with company, federal, and contractual safety and health requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Teach occasional safety and health courses to company and contractor employees
• Review and revise safety, health, and environmental procedures
• Champion the KBR Zero Harm safety philosophy
• Perform fire extinguisher, safety eyewash/shower and emergency lighting inspections
• Maintain safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental records and create safety training reports.
• Assist with the quarterly and annual hazardous chemical inventories and Safety Data Sheet library.
• Participate in safety inspections and maintain inspection discrepancies in a database
• Provide assistance to employees in the areas of safety, health, and environmental issues
• Responsible for compliance with KBR’s Safety, Health and Environmental Plan and all safety policies and procedures of the Company, including reporting of safety violations or potential violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel
• Responsible for compliance with KBR’s Quality Plan
• Adhere to Company policies, procedures and work rules and demonstrate a strong work ethic
• Responsible for completing all assigned training
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in safety, industrial hygiene, chemistry, biology or other acceptable life science degree plus 2 to 5 years safety or occupational health experience; or master’s degree in safety or industrial hygiene, chemistry, biology or other acceptable life science degree plus 0-2 years of safety or occupational health experience.
DESIRED: Experience with the JSC work environment.
SKILLS/TRAINING
REQUIRED: PC skills in Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Ability to create and deliver safety presentations. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to engage employees with high standards of performance and increase efficiency.
DESIRED:
Experience with SharePoint site functions.
