The Safety Representative will be pivotal in implementing targeted safety initiatives, enhancing driver training, conducting thorough investigations, and developing strategies to reduce these incidents.
Job Duties:
- Conduct training courses offered by the Safety Department.
- Compliance with federal regulations, including maintaining driver qualification files, monitoring driver qualifications, hours of service records and equipment inspections.
- Perform safety-related functions, including accident reviews, annual reviews, remedial log training, and simulator training.
- Perform drug and Breath Alcohol Tests (BAT).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, CBT systems, and other office database systems.
- Counsel drivers for DOT violations and company policy violations.
- Conduct road tests and evaluations for driver safety and compliance.
- Knowledge and ability to perform a pre-trip inspection.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent; college preferred.
- Public speaking and/or adult education experience.
- Transportation Safety experience preferred.
- 1-2 years’ experience in a Safety Specialist position preferred.
- Classroom instruction experience preferred.
- Basic assembly skills and product knowledge (furniture and appliances) preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to read documents, computer screens, answer phones, and communicate in person.
- Able to perform physical activities such as standing, walking, climbing, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and lifting.
