Safety Coordinator

As a Safety Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in fostering a culture of safety at our ProWood facility. You’ll be responsible for implementing, overseeing, and continuously improving our safety programs to ensure a secure, compliant, and productive workplace.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct facility inspections to ensure compliance with safety protocols, proper use of protective equipment, and functionality of machine/process safeguards.

Lead accident and near-miss investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.

Partner with management to develop and enhance safety programs, training initiatives, and incentive programs.

Facilitate new hire safety training and ongoing education to ensure employees understand and adhere to safety policies.

Provide hands-on training for employees on safe machinery and equipment operation.

Chair the Safety Committee, driving discussions and initiatives that promote workplace safety.

Ensure the facility maintains appropriate first aid and CPR-trained personnel and that medical and safety supplies are stocked.

Conduct and certify all forklift training to maintain compliance and safety standards.

Coordinate fire safety inspections and audits conducted by regulatory agencies.

Oversee the facility’s hearing conservation program.

Assist employees with work restrictions and coordinate return-to-work programs.

Maintain communication with management, Human Resources, and third-party claims administrators regarding workplace safety and incident reports.

Maintain OSHA 300 logs and other required documentation.

Prepare detailed safety reports and recommendations for continuous improvement.

Perform additional duties as assigned to enhance workplace safety and compliance.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (required); additional education in occupational safety or a related field is a plus.

0-2 years of experience in safety coordination, manufacturing, or woodworking operations.

Strong knowledge of safety regulations, including OSHA and DOT (preferred).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).

First Aid and CPR certification (preferred, or willingness to obtain).

Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and drive a culture of safety.

A proactive and detail-oriented mindset with a passion for workplace safety.

Preferred Bilingual (English/Spanish).
