This is Adyen
Adyen provides payments, data, and financial products in a single solution for customers like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft - making us the financial technology platform of choice. At Adyen, everything we do is engineered for ambition.
For our teams, we create an environment with opportunities for our people to succeed, backed by the culture and support to ensure they are enabled to truly own their careers. We are motivated individuals who tackle unique technical challenges at scale and solve them as a team. Together, we deliver innovative and ethical solutions that help businesses achieve their ambitions faster.
Product Risk & Strategic Risk domain
As the first member of the Strategy & Product Risk management domain within the Enterprise Risk Function, you will report directly to the VP of Enterprise Risk. You are responsible to provide end-to-end risk expertise across Adyen from a Second Line perspective and help to build our Strategy & Product Risk management domain.
Your primary and initial focus will be to strengthen product approval processes (PARP) and product risk assessment in order to add value to Adyen’s products that benefit from structured support and challenge from second line teams. We are looking for a professional that has seen this before and is keen to support our product teams in delivering services that continue to meet and exceed our customer expectations.
As part of this role, you will extensively collaborate with all other Second Line Functions, as well as key stakeholders within the First Line - including our Product, Engineering and Operations Functions.
In addition to product risk expertise, experience with managing strategic risk or sustainability risk is a big plus! A background in fintech or the broader financial services industry is another plus!
This is a real opportunity to take ownership and at the same time learn a lot about risk management at a financial technology firm. Years of experience are less important for us than attitude; our ideal candidate can contribute to strategic discussions but is also happy to track completion of risk management conditions. As this is a new role, you can shape it successfully according to your own strengths and prior experience. As Adyen and the domain grows, your career opportunities will do as well.
What you’ll do:
- Help develop and establish an independent second line product risk assessment process (PARP) for both new and mature product offerings
- Work together with a broad array of stakeholders, in specific our product teams, in defining, structuring and administering steps and requirements during product development.
- Define and track tangible conditions to help Adyen launch new and innovative services to its merchants.
- Take ownership of the topic of product risk and coordinate activities within the global enterprise risk team that contribute to its success.
- Help build out, and establish, a mature sustainability second line risk management team. This encompasses climate and environmental risk, social risk and governance risk.
- Be an integral part of the global Enterprise Risk Function and as such contribute to Adyen global risk management activities - including to facilitate risk appetite setting, design resilience plans and launch business continuity exercises.
Who you are:
Please note we realize you might not meet all these characteristics, but we would love to speak to you if you recognize yourself in the majority of the below;
- 3+ years within second-line risk management, either in-house or through a consulting role
- Project management skills
- Product approval process (PARP) experience, including knowledge of relevant regulation
- A proactive, energetic builder that has a hands-on mentality
- Sustainability risk management, ESG or CSRD enthusiast
- An understanding of the strategic & business risks type category
- Great communicative and stakeholder management skills

Why Work With Us
At Adyen, everything we do is engineered for ambition. We started with payments, at a time when providers offered services based on a patchwork of systems built on outdated infrastructure. Ambition demanded more. So we set off to build a financial technology platform for the modern era, entirely in-house, from the ground up.
