The scope covers a wide array of tasks, including fund risk management, enterprise risk management, production of internal and external reporting,g and remaining abreast with fast evolving EU regulatory framework.
Summary of our opportunity
The Risk Function team consists of 7 professionals, based in London and Luxembourg. The Control Functions (Risk, Compliance and Internal Audit) team consist of 25+ employees, based out of London, US, Luxembourg and Poland. In addition to the permanent team, various external providers are used to supplement the delivery, such as compliance monitoring, internal audit and general risk, legal and regulatory advice.
Reporting directly to the Luxembourg based Risk Conducting Officer, this role will primarily support the continuous enhancement and review of the risk management process ICG’s EU regulated alternative investment fund manager (the “AIFM”) and ensure the AIFM is performing its risk monitoring in line with the Fund’s constitutional documents and regulatory requirements. The role will also work closely with the business operations to assist with risk and control self-assessments and incident management across a number of functions and strategies. In doing so the role will support the implementation of the risk management standards across the firm and work to ensure the function aligns to industry and regulatory expectations. In addition, the position will require to have a close collaboration with the other control functions towards a consistent framework in line with ICG group processes whilst adhering the regulatory standards applicable.
The role requires a combination of intellectual breadth and agility, the ability to work under different performance, accounting and regulatory reporting frameworks, to coordinate with various internal departments and external service providers, with a problem-solving mind set, good communication and partnering skills. The successful candidate will have the ability to work with the team based in Warsaw, Luxembourg and London and with the business operations, providing appropriate support, whilst forming close and constructive relationships internally and externally.
Primary responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to):
- Work closely with the Risk Conducting Officer and the Head of Risk to further develop the group’s risk management framework to assist the business in the identification, mitigation and management of its risks;
- Assisting the Risk Conducting Officer in the Fund risk management monitoring, as well as assisting in the production of the relevant quarterly risk reporting;
- Assisting with the preparation or review of risk-related fund and AIFM regulatory reporting;
- Carrying out risk related thematic reviews and process enhancements;
- Working closely with the business and control functions (Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal) to drive regulatory change or efficiency enhancement change, focusing on ensuring a robust control environment
- Participating to the maintenance, review and update of the risk and controls self-assessment process, incident management process through the firm-wide dedicated enterprise risk management tool;
- Support the business functions to pro-actively identify control gaps and provide independent assurance of action plans designed to mitigate or close these gaps;
- Work with Internal and External Audit on risk related topics;
- Work with fund external delegates or service providers (administrators, depositaries etc) on risk related topics.
Key Requirements/ Qualifications
You will have demonstrable experience of:
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant subject with post-graduate qualifications that are relevant to the role
- Experience in working in the asset management industry, with a good background in financial risk management.
- Previous exposure to the private equity and/or private debt fund sector would be an advantage
- Educational background in either Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration.
- Solid foundation of at least 3-5 years in alternative asset fund management in risk management or in relevant control function role.
- Proficiency in MS Office, with a strong emphasis on Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Exceptional command of the English language, with a focus on clarity and precision in all forms of communication.
