This Engineer Role has a high potential to become a future leader in mechanical design and even in composite design. Activities include contributing to the design and development of the RISE Open Fan and Ducted Programs, solutions and systems for polymer composites. This role will include the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of this Advanced Mechanical Design Team and will have input into the team's priorities. This Engineer shall be guided by professional practices and policies of GE Aerospace that are shaped by the role. The role has some autonomy, requiring moderate levels of operational judgment with support of controlled title holders on the team. This role will specifically start out by designing and procuring airfoil hardware for sub-scale rig tests then support other airfoil testing needs. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering and/or materials engineer and/or applicable specialist for all products.
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
  • A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team members.
  • Prepares/participates in invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage, as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the company
  • Provides technical guidance and clear direction to new engineers, specialists, technicians, and co-ops/interns as needed by the role.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • At least 1 additional years of experience in an engineering design position.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Established project management skills.
  • Some composite design / test experience and or desire to learn.
  • FMEA (ANSYS solver, Hypermesh software, and CAD Modeling via NX PLM Teamcenter software) experience.
  • Programing skills (C++, Matlab, Python, … or other equivalent software).

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
