Job Description:  Revenue Controller

The ideal candidate will be commutable to the Acton, MA office.

Position Overview:

The Revenue Controller will be responsible for all aspects of revenue accounting including technical matters and 606 compliance for a fast paced global company that is rapidly expanding into new markets. In addition to overseeing the monthly accounting for revenue, the Revenue Controller will provide guidance for and implement process improvements, as well as identify revenue control risks and ensure effective implementation and documentation of revenue recognition. This position will report directly to the Sr. Director, Assistant Controller.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with business and FP&A to understand new transactions and business evolution to evaluate accounting implications

• Ensure compliance with revenue recognition standards, including ASC 606

• Review revenue contracts and ensure proper accounting treatment

• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close requirements related to revenue recognition, including timely preparation of reconciliations

• Prepare and review SOX control activities related to the revenue process and serve as the process owner for the Revenue cycle

• Perform technical accounting research as it relates to revenue-related topics and provide revenue recognition guidance to other teams

• Develop and maintain revenue-related policies and procedures, including accounting memos and internal controls documentation to support compliance

• Responsible for all revenue recognition reporting and compliance requirements, including the coordination, preparation and review of revenue-related financial data contained in SEC 10-Q and 10-K filings

• Serve as a main point of contact for the external auditors for revenue accounting and play a key role in ensuring timely completion of the annual audit and quarterly review to meet external reporting deadlines

• Work on process optimization and automation efforts to improve efficiency and effectiveness

• Develop, train and mentor staff

Education and Experience:

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, CPA certification required

• 10+ years related work experience, including experience within a large, multi-national public company and within a public accounting firm (e.g. Big 4).  Pharmaceutical company experience highly preferred.

• 3+ years of managing direct reports

Required Skills and Competencies:

• High degree of technical proficiency with revenue recognition standard (ASC 606)

• Experience with revenue operations and SOX

• Ability to identify and implement process improvements

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external business partners

• Effective time management and prioritization skills

• Initiative-taking

• Ability to work well independently and in a team environment

• Ability to manage stress appropriately and interact well with others

NOTE: This position is eligible for 100% remote working arrangements (may work from home/virtually 100%; may also work hybrid on-site/virtual as desired). #LI-Remote

Additional Information:

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $153,000.00 - $229,500.00. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position in the primary work location in the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
