We are looking for a strong Return Merchandise Authorization engineer to lead our program under the quality assurance department.  You will be responsible for inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing customer returned products. You will  provide a detailed analysis to identify root causes of failures, and then implement corrective actions to improve product reliability and maintainability within our company's manufacturing process; you will work closely with engineering and quality teams to identify areas for process improvement based on returned items. This role will also focus on ensuring the timely processing of returns, making decisions to repair or replace products, and meeting or exceeding customer SLAs for response and resolution times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receiving and processing returned products:
    • Inspecting returned items to determine the nature of the issue, logging details in the RMA system, and initiating the repair process.
    • Ensuring all returns are processed within established timelines to maintain customer satisfaction and meet SLA requirements.
  • Failure analysis:
    • Performing detailed testing and analysis to identify the root cause of product failures, including electrical, mechanical, and software components.
    • Diagnosing malfunctions and implementing repair solutions to address customer issues.
  • Completing necessary repairs on returned products, which may involve component replacement, calibration, and reassembly.
  • Maintaining accurate records of RMA activity, including repair details, test results, and customer information.
  • Monitoring and analyzing RMA data to identify patterns and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring repaired products meet quality standards through thorough testing and inspection.
  • Collaborating with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Working with the customer service team to align on repair/replacement decisions, providing timely updates to customers regarding return status, and ensuring adherence to SLA commitments.
  • Providing updates to customers on the status of their returned products and addressing any concerns.


Skills and Qualifications 

  • Strong technical knowledge of the company's products and manufacturing processes 
  • Electrical Engineering Degree
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repair techniques 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Familiarity with testing equipment and methodologies 
  • Attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure 
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills 
  • Experience managing customer SLAs and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
