The Role

The Center for Precision Nutrition and Health (CPNH/Center) in the Division of Nutritional Sciences (DNS) and College of Human Ecology, is a multi-disciplinary center that integrates novel approaches in precision nutrition, artificial intelligence (AI), and technology to translate nutrition and health research to policy and practice to improve human health. The Center is growing rapidly, with current annual operating funds of over $1.2M, federally sponsored research awards to date of $8.5M, and approximately 12 employees expected by the end of 2024.

The Joan Klein Jacobs Center for Precision Nutrition and Health (CPNH) in the College of Human Ecology, is a multi-disciplinary center that integrates novel approaches in precision nutrition, artificial intelligence (AI), and technology to translate nutrition and health research to policy and practice to improve human health. 

The research support specialist will conduct research and systematic research reviews to advance the CPNH mission, meet sponsor deliverables, and to develop recommendations to guide national and international clinical practice, health and nutrition guidelines, and government policy, primarily in the areas of nutrition, infectious diseases, and maternal and child health. The specialist will also work with the University PORTENT center’s international clinical core facilities to advance the research, testing, and dissemination of point of care technologies and diagnostics for a global range of populations.

This is a part-time (50%), hybrid position. The position is eligible for contract college benefits. The appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal, contingent on available funding, work, and successful performance. Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.

  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members. 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2 to 4 years relevant experience or equivalent combination - designing, planning, and conducting systematic reviews and evidence to decision frameworks and methods.

  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team with a high degree of self-motivation.

  • Demonstrable experience in literature reviews, research methods, and evidence synthesis.

  • Proven exceptional reasoning skills and ability to exercise independent judgment.

  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and effective organization, planning, and time management skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills (both written and oral).

  • Ability to solve problems.

  • Adaptable and flexible to changing business needs.

  • Experience with databases and tools employed in medical research (PubMed, Cochrane, Embase) and statistical analysis (R, SAS, and/or STATA).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A PhD in nutrition, epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, or related clinical field is desirable.

  • Advanced training in nutrition and/or data science and experience in scientific writing, data analysis (SAS), and conducting systematic reviews, and/or training in Cochrane methods is also desirable.'
