Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. First to deliver the best imaging and classification data for every defect or point on any layer at any time. EBeam’s mission encapsulates its role as the “eyes” of KLA’s product line, providing timely information on defects and critical locations on the wafer at the highest spatial resolution possible. Customers use EBeam products alongside KLA patterned and bare wafer inspectors to quickly understand the nature of defects and other imperfections on product wafers and take action to correct the manufacturing process.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

The E-beam technology team is seeking a research scientist to develop and optimize electron sources to enable the next generation of KLA electron beam products.

The position will accompany product development from researching initial concepts and new technologies, to feasibility, prototyping, characterization, and productization.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Generate system requirements documentation and verification test plans.
  • Communicate system requirements with other engineers including, but not limited to, electrical, mechanical, and SW requirements.
  • Lead small, cross-disciplinary teams for subsystem development and risk retirement.
  • Design of experiment for system characterization and critical risk retirement.
  • Hands on execution of experimental plans, debugging of test setups, analysis, and presentation of results.
  • Work with outside vendors to source key components as needed. Write and provide Scope-of-Work documentation.
  • Some travel for vendor or customer engagement.

Candidate must have a background in electron sources (such as CFE & TFE), electron optics, simulations, SEM systems, vacuum, and electronic instrumentation.  With hands on experience in high voltage, ultra-high vacuum, and electron microscopy

The position will require a broad skill set including simulation, theoretical understanding, and experimental execution. The candidate should be comfortable with scripting, Matlab, and statistics packages such as JMP. Should be independent self-starter, work well on teams, and have good communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate (Academic) or work experience of 2 years , Master's Level Degree or work experience of 4 years , Bachelor's Level Degree or work experience of 5 years
