About Us
We are looking for dedicated professionals who thrive on tackling complex challenges and are committed to improving the lives of patients. If you value innovation, collaboration, and integrity, and are eager to contribute to advancing therapies for renal diseases, we encourage you to join our team. Based in the state-of-the-art Bakar Labs in Berkeley, CA, we are focused on pioneering medicines that make a meaningful impact.
About The Role
We’re seeking a highly motivated research associate with a strong background in
cell culture to join our dynamic team and contribute to building our pipeline for kidney diseases. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our research efforts working alongside a team of scientists. Responsibilities include maintaining and propagating cell lines, executing experiments, and ensuring the quality and consistency of our cell culture processes. The ideal candidate should have at least 2+ years of hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture techniques and possess a strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols.
What You'll Do
- Cell Culture Maintenance: Perform cell culture tasks, including maintenance, proliferation, cryopreservation, and contamination-free handling of mammalian cells. Support transient and stable transfection protocols for protein expression as well as generate clonal cell lines.
- Protocol Development and Optimization: Develop and optimize protocols for mammalian cell culture processes, ensuring efficiency and reproducibility. Implement and document improvements in cell culture workflows, including automation efforts with liquid handling systems.
- Data Collection and Documentation: Accurately document experimental protocols, data, and observations in electronic lab notebooks (ELNs). Generate, analyze, and report data with the highest standards of integrity.
- Assay Development: Execute cell-based assays, including viability, cytotoxicity, and proliferation assays, to assess experimental conditions.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with interdisciplinary teams to support study design, process improvements, and project planning. Regularly present research findings to supervisors and team members.
What You'll Bring
- BS/MS in Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field.
- 2+years of experience in mammalian cell culture and tissue culture operations.
- Proven expertise in maintaining sterility, performing cryopreservation, and conducting cell-based assays (e.g. flow cytometry).
- Excellent organization skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, ensure timely updates, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ELNs; familiarity with statistical software is a plus.
