Position Description
We are currently seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Research Associate in the technology sector. This role will involve providing support to a senior analyst and assisting in various research activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating research tasks, conducting deep dives on industry thematic, and analysing news. Fluency in both English and Japanese at a business level is required for this position. Additionally, the candidate should be willing to assist other teams when their schedule allows.
Key Areas of Responsibilities

Assisting senior analyst: Provide support to the senior analyst on specific research projects, including gathering relevant data, conducting analysis, and preparing reports.

Client requests: Collect data and compile answers to client requests, ensuring timely and accurate responses.

Financial modelling: Update and help develop financial models, incorporating relevant data and market trends.

Data management: Maintain databases of technology industry-specific data, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for research purposes.

Results meetings: Attend results meetings on behalf of the analyst, take comprehensive notes, and provide key insights and observations.

Client visits: Accompany clients on visits and produce detailed notes highlighting important discussions and observations.

Relationship management: Cultivate and maintain sound working relationships with corporates, clients, and industry contacts to facilitate information exchange and enhance research capabilities.

Coverage expansion: Collaborate with the senior analyst to expand the coverage universe, identifying potential investment opportunities and conducting thorough research on new companies.
Requirements

Bachelor's degree or above in a business-related discipline, preferably with a major in finance and/or accounting.

Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Japanese at a business level.

1-3 years of experience in a related field, or alternatively, experience in investment banking, accounting, wealth management, or relevant industries such as technology hardware and semiconductors.

Strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of financial modelling techniques.

Proficiency in using Excel and spreadsheet software for data analysis.

Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure when required.

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and manage relationships.

High sense of commercial awareness and understanding of business dynamics.

Familiarity with research team operations, research sales team functions, and corporate access team responsibilities is preferred.
