About the Opportunity
We are looking for a Research Analyst to join Franklin’s Floating Rate Debt Group (“FRDG”) which invests in below investment grade, syndicated leveraged loans. The group largely focuses on senior secured corporate loans (1st and 2nd liens) with select opportunistic investments in distressed debt and special situations.
What are the ongoing responsibilities?

Provide in-depth research and fundamental credit analysis for broadly syndicated loan transactions
-
Provide ongoing monitoring of 40+ issuers across one or more sectors with timely updates to underlying investment recommendations
-
Actively participate and collaborate in weekly meetings to help influence portfolio performance.

Analyze credit agreements and loan documents.
-
Develop relationships with management teams, industry experts, private equity sponsors, business partners, and financial advisers.
What ideal qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?
-
10+ years of experience in the U.S. leveraged finance market analyzing non-investment grade companies
-
Ability to build detailed financial models while displaying a clear understanding of accounting principles and cash flow analysis.
-
Good intuitive credit judgment and analytical abilities.
-
Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.

Ability to multi-task and work independently.

BA required, CFA or MBA strongly preferred.
-
Strong experience with Excel and Bloomberg.
Compensation Range: Along with base compensation, other compensation is offered such as a discretionary bonus, 401k plan, health insurance, and other perks. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Franklin Templeton, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation. The salary, benefits and variable rewards will reflect the seniority of the position and a competitive market rate. We expect the annual salary for this position to range between $170K to $195K, in addition to a competitive bonus.
