Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Research Accountant - Boca Raton, FL.
Summary of responsibilities:
Invoicing:
-
Determine the frequency and type of invoice required by the sponsor; prepare and submit invoices on a timely basis to the sponsor, along with any required support documentation.
Financial Reports:
-
Determine the financial reports required by the sponsor; prepare reports accurately and on a timely basis.
Expenditure Approvals:
-
Oversight review on expenditure requests to be charged to Awards (grants), including Cost Allocations, Period Activity Pay, One-Time Payments, Payroll Accounting Adjustments, Expense Reports for Travel and P-Card, Supplier Invoices, Requisitions, Purchase Orders, and Journals.
Award (Grant) Reconciliation:

Monitor outstanding receivables, reconcile items and overspent budgets, and identify corrections needed or adjustments for indirect costs.
Accounts Receivable:
-
Verify accounts receivable; use the standard collection procedures to follow up on collecting any outstanding invoices.

Make recommendations on Award (grant) resolution and referral to legal counsel as appropriate.
Problem Solving:
-
Follows up on Awards (grants) with discrepancies and unresolved issues by working with the appropriate personnel and using professional experience and judgment to solve problems. Takes action as necessary to resolve outstanding items.

Award (Grant) Closeout: Follows standard Award (grant) closeout procedures for processing expired awards (grants).

Other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience required.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
An accounting degree from an accredited institution.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to success in this position.
Excellent customer service, organizational and time management skills.
Salary:
$65,000 - $70,000 per year.
