Serves as a member of the performance management team responsible for performance improvement projects within a defined population of Trinity Health Revenue Excellence. Responsible for implementing opportunities for enhancement and/or standardization initiatives and support the long-term success and sustainability of those initiatives. Provides advisory leadership, guidance and regular collaboration with System Office, Regional Health Ministry (RHM) leadership, and Patient Business Services (PBS) managers to achieve sustained success in transformational initiatives and the pursuit of continuous improvement. This position reports the regional Manager Performance Management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
Provides depth of knowledge and seasoned expertise in one to two specific areas within the Revenue Cycle, along with a solid understanding of end-to-end Revenue Cycle processes and the ability to identify opportunities for performance improvement. Serves as an expert with knowledge of best known practices in at least one functional area. Monitors and enhances existing tools to support owned functional area
Leads projects and manages deliverables required to support the performance management team functions. Serves as a primary point of contact in the resolution of significant project issues and removal of project barriers.
Responsible for developing plans and strategies, setting standards, identifying outcomes and resolving performance management team issues. Monitors and drives progress of teams in meeting project deliverables and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Identifies and prepares operational and financial metrics and provides appropriate interpretation and application of data. Designs, develops and implements systems that provide financial, statistical and operational information.
Responsible for complex and specialized assignments requiring the application of deep analytical and practical guidance and direction. Serves as a technical resource providing seasoned and specialized knowledge and adaptive thinking in response to a variety of situations and challenges. Develops integrated solutions to resolve highly complex technical and business issues.
Provides advisory leadership and seasoned guidance coordinating projects, adhering to established methodology, managing deliverables, addressing risk factors, removing barriers and providing problem resolution in meeting project plan deliverables. Identifies areas that present challenges and opportunities; makes recommendations that provide practical options and solutions while considering the impact on processes, workforce, culture and technology.
Facilitates varied interests, cross functional teams and groups through effective leadership, communication, collaboration and negotiation abilities in order to achieve mutual agreeable solutions.
Defines and manages project plans and goals; conducts business workflow mapping; impact analyses and modeling; applies action steps, develops status reports or communication plans and keeps leadership and key stakeholders apprised of project progress and ensuring project plans and deliverables are met and in alignment with organizational goals
Management of vendor relations supporting revenue cycle functions across region.
Identifies deviations from best known practice performance and processes.
Utilizes critical thinking, strong analytical skills and proficient abilities with Microsoft Excel.
Independently collects, synthesizes and analyzes data, identifies root cause, and provides summaries and graphical presentations of data illustrating trends with recommended next steps to manager.
Identifies and escalates performance opportunities, initiates action plans, and serves as the primary point of contact for RHM and PBS managers
Other duties as needed and assigned by the manager.
Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a strong knowledge of revenue cycle strategies, as normally obtained through a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial Engineering or Healthcare Administration or a related field, and five (5) or more years of revenue cycle experience, project management or consulting experience with healthcare clients driving transformational efforts or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of and experience with Health Information Systems and insurance issues, healthcare industry issues and trends, legal issues in field of expertise, required third party and governmental guidelines, and work processing methods and techniques.
Supervisory or team leader experience that emphasize team‑building and strong leadership with the ability to provide clear oversight and coordination to the department, while also functioning as an individual contributor. Proven ability to develop analysis and process improvement recommendations to create solutions that drives measurable desired results.
Demonstrated experience and proficiency in managing performance/business process improvement activities and applying continuous improvement methodologies, including analyzing workflow processes utilizing PDCA, Lean, Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies. Ability to train and mentor others.
Strong project management , integration and implementation abilities. Reasonable experience in planning, formulating and executing strategies and to define project, process or business objectives and scope. Prior responsibility for managing change management projects and interfacing with leadership.
Demonstrated proficiency to identify, evaluate and articulate operational opportunities, business needs and gaps, plan and implement project steps, understand stakeholder interest and provide authoritative consultation.
Excellent organizational, advanced analytical, presentation, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to translate technical matters to operations staff, facilitate communications between diverse groups and to effectively assess and facilitate improvements and solutions and to provide productive working partnerships, advice and authoritative recommendations to all levels of the organization.
Proven customer-service orientation and strong interpersonal, consultative and relationship building skills. Ability to know and understand customer requirements and exercise judgment in meeting reasonable expectations, particularly when differences of opinion on needs and services, unanticipated contingencies or divergent ideas and perspectives exist. Ability to influence results, garner support and tactfully manage complex relationships and influences within and across the organization. Ability to read the subtle nuances of situations and react/plan accordingly.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Experience with RC analytics, key metrics and leading indicators of RC performance, and visualization tools (i.e. Tableau).
Ability to work independently or as a team member.
Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
