The Relationship Manager Institutional Clients for EMEA is responsible for providing exceptional service to clients, leveraging relationships to generate additional business opportunities, and minimising business risks and outflows. This role involves cross-selling products, building and maintaining client relationships, and becoming a trusted advisor to clients.
This high-impact role is crucial for maintaining client satisfaction and retention. Success in this role will contribute to the growth and retention of revenue for AAM EMEA, significantly impacting the Aegon Asset Management Group business. The role requires adherence to compliance guidelines to avoid exposing the company to undue risk.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Relationship Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for designated clients and their advisers.
- Attend client meetings and build strong relationships with new and existing clients and their advisers.
- Coordinate activities with marketing and investment management to enhance the company's reputation.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of client contacts, their investments, consultants, and future investment strategies.
- Proactively introduce Aegon Asset Management products to clients to retain and extend relationships.
- Secure meetings outside of formal trustee meetings with key client contacts.
- Send marketing materials and updates to client contacts as appropriate.
Client On-boarding:
- Collaborate with operations and client service colleagues to ensure smooth onboarding of new clients.
- Manage and lead complex client onboarding processes, including foreign clients and feasibility checks for new or adjusted client offerings.
- Oversee incoming and outgoing client transitions, informing clients of progress and outcomes.
- Act as an escalation point for any issues.
Business Development:
- Develop and share intelligence on designated clients, including their structure, key people, product demand, and event appetite.
- Coordinate activities with internal departments such as client servicing, marketing, product development, and investment management.
- Promote new business opportunities through frequent contact and discussions on investment strategy, new products, and market developments.
- Schedule meetings, arrange entertainment, and make presentations to win new business.
- Contribute to sales pitches, product amendments, and new product launches based on client knowledge.
Process Ownership:
- Develop and maintain procedures to ensure client regulatory and contractual deliverables are met.
- Maintain up-to-date process descriptions and regularly review processes to improve client experience.
- Identify weaknesses in service delivery and implement pragmatic solutions.
- Provide annual updates of business process design documents and implement process improvements.
- Participate in regulatory projects and coach less experienced team members.
Risk & Control:
- Ensure appropriate skills, knowledge, and network to carry out the role effectively through training and mentoring.
- Accountable for specific controls as described in the relevant risk framework.
- Participate in internal audits, discuss findings, and implement audit recommendations.
- Handle requests from client auditors and participate in risk control self-assessments.
- Maintain compliance with CDD and KYC policies and ensure regulatory and legislative compliance.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Educated to graduate level or equivalent, preferably with a further investment/financial services qualification.
- Good knowledge of the marketplace and the wider investment world, including investment markets.
- Strong technical knowledge of the company’s products and services across relevant asset classes.
- High level of numeracy and excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in relevant languages.
- Proven track record of delivering excellent service to clients in the financial services industry.
- High level of technical operational knowledge related to external clients or investment management firms.
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills.
- Dutch Language skills are a must.
- Great sense of humor
