KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with 10+ years related experience in sales in the food service industry with at least 3 years of Sales Management experience
  • Knowledge of food service industry products, services, and marketing techniques, Proven negotiating and project management abilities and solid expertise and understanding of corporate accounting and budgeting to develop and manage department budget and capital expenditures.
  • The individual will possess proven leadership abilities, analytical skills, excellent communication skills and prior management experience of commissioned sales professionals.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products (specifically Excel, Word, and Powerpoint)
  • Ability to travel throughout assigned geographic or account-based territory to support sales group and call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders and provide ongoing sales support
  • Capable of leading a team who will provide superior customer satisfaction to both internal and external customers. 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor degree in sales, business or marketing and SAP experience

ESSENTIAL DUTIES 

  • Provide leadership, direction, motivation and development of District Sales Managers
  • Insure District Sales Managers are teaching selling skills and sampling activities, to all of their sales representatives and providing on-going coaching and mentoring.  
  • Ensure Company direction and strategic imperatives are implemented in a consistent and timely fashion. 
  • Develop and delegate the regional action plans of volume targets, commission rates, expense control and others as required. Develops and implements strategies, tactics and action plans to exceed the region plans. Insures all districts are within the matrix guidelines. 
  • Assist in the development of the District Sales Managers and sales representatives hiring guidelines and interfaces with Human Resources and District Managers relative to the screening, interviewing and the selection of sales candidates. Actively participates in the selection process for District Sales Managers. 
  • Structures action plans to correct shortfall areas, and communicates with the Sales Reps., and/or DSMs regarding performance and/or results reviews. Insures the attainment of regional objectives. Must maintain regional profitability as assigned and agreed to, with emphasis on a district-by-district basis. 
  • Communicate constantly and ongoing with DSMs, Sales Reps., Executive Management, Credit, Distribution, Traffic, Purchasing, Collections, Human Resources, Customer Service and all other functional areas.  
  • Assist the DSM's in both the development of new territories and the maintenance of growth in existing territories. Also assist in the development of vertical and/or horizontal penetration action plans within each territory of that region. 
  • Responsible for working in a regularly (60%of time) unstructured manner with all District Sales Managers in the Region.  
  • Call on all levels of preferred customers to build closer relationships with these accounts, maximize our penetration of existing accounts, acquire new street and multi-unit customers and to keep up with the latest trends and tendencies of the industry.  
  • Monitor the market and the performance of the District Managers and sales representatives. Regional Manager will train and develop, coach, and mentor the District Sales Managers and sales representatives. 
  • Administer day-to-day operating functions of Sales Management, Credit, Purchasing, Distribution, Traffic, Collections and account problems for the region. 
  • Select, train and develop an effective and efficient staff. 
  • Interview candidates for open positions and make hiring decisions. 
  • Establish and communicate performance metrics, standards and objectives; conduct performance reviews. 
  • Recommend salary adjustments, promotions, transfers, disciplinary action, dismissals and terminations. 
  • Train & develop staff and counsel employees on educational and job opportunities which will enhance their career development. 
  • Coach and counsel employees on performance issues. 
  • Conduct periodic meetings with staff to keep them informed of current problems, changes and new developments in the department and company. 
  • Administer all policies and procedures set forth by DON. 
  • Monitor district/territory work productivity and recommend and/or implement changes to improve work productivity based on goals and objectives. 
  • Plan, schedule, and assign workloads, and coordinate workflow and procedures to maximize service. 
  • Cross train staff to maximize productivity and provide coverage of all functions. 
  • Keep Manager informed of activities and problems within assigned area of responsibility; refer matters beyond
