The Regional Drilling Director will play a pivotal role in expanding and optimizing drilling activities for Dandelion’s geothermal energy projects in Colorado. This position will involve entrepreneurial ambition, strategic planning, technical expertise, and operational leadership to ensure successful drilling operations that maximize productivity and minimize costs in a safe environment for our teams. Reporting to the VP of Drilling, the Drilling Director will oversee a regional team of drilling crews and collaborate closely with other departments to drive continuous improvement in drilling performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bring an entrepreneurial spirit to the Colorado geothermal market participating in key decisions around who, where, and how to develop and launch Dandelion’s drilling operations in Colorado
- Help build a world class geothermal drilling team in the Colorado region and play a large role in managing its growth
- Lead and manage multiple drilling teams, drillers, and support personnel, to ensure efficient and safe execution of drilling operations.
- Provide technical guidance and expertise in drilling techniques, equipment selection, and logistics to maximize productivity.
- Monitor drilling operations to ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and project specifications.
- Implement best practices, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance drilling productivity, reduce downtime, and increase overall project profitability.
- Develop and manage budgets, schedules, and performance metrics for drilling operations, and provide regular reports to senior management.
- Mentor and coach team members, promote a culture of safety, innovation, and excellence, and foster professional development opportunities.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory developments in geothermal drilling and energy production, and incorporate relevant innovations into project planning and execution.
- Represent Dandelion in the Colorado region.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field preferred; or relevant work experience
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience in drilling operations, preferably with significant exposure to geothermal or oil and gas projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of drilling techniques, geothermal reservoir characteristics, and project management.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of driving results in a dynamic and challenging environment.
- Sound understanding of safety regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and risk management practices in the energy industry.
- Proficiency in software, data analysis tools, and project management systems.
- Ability to travel to project sites (this role is in the Denver, CO region).
