Your Role

As part of our Southeast Design Technology studio your role as Regional Design Technology Manager, will be focused on researching, promoting, elevating and strategically implementing our diverse ecosystem covering BIM, Computational Design and Generative Design to name a few. A critical multifaceted role that provides technical leadership, strategic value and deep tactical expertise in the design technology and digital project delivery space to our regional offices and project teams. You will use your soft skills, relationship building and technical expertise to drive with process enhancement, innovation, optimization and digital platforms implementation in partnership / collaboration with your peers in the Regional Design Technology group.

Process enhancement and alignment are essential and when coupled with the right people, can lead to highly efficient teams. Your role will combine real-world experience within the AECO industry and the ability to incorporate data and team feedback to drive process enhancement. Technology is paramount to achieving our goals and is a mechanism for execution and delivery. Your role will focus on incorporating the “right tool for the right opportunity” to advance and deliver on innovation.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and execute BIM best practices and BIM Project Execution Planning
  • Manage and collaborate with consultants, vendors, and other resources to deliver on goals
  • Lead and advance ISO 19650 standards (where applicable)
  • Create and manage BIM coordinators to support projects
  • Lead and manage R&D efforts related to Design Technology
  • Promote quality control/assurance by collaborating with technical directors
  • Collaborate with practitioners and design synergy on how to adopt “back to basics” thinking around design authoring
  • Integrate computational thinking as part of the design storytelling for our design teams
  • Integration of AI best practices, workflows and awareness
  • Lead cultural, process-driven and technical training in practice
  • Help create a brand and ecosystem for Design Technology
  • Development, implementation and support of tools, templates and workflows
  • Reduce waste through Interoperability pipeline development
  • Transform smart-digital data-driven ideas into reality implemented on projects
  • Champion digital transformation and cultural change throughout the region
  • Collaborate with Regional Design Technology leaders on requirements and priorities
  • Participate in establishing and driving the Design Technology roadmap for the region
  • Research emerging technologies and define use-cases for implementation on projects
  • Represent our firm through speaking engagements, hackathons and industry events
  • Lead software development for plug-ins and utilities with software development team

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design or equivalent with 10+ years of experience in AEC/O space
  • Strong command of the Design Delivery process to fabrication / construction
  • Documented progressive growth and experience in leading / supporting Design Technology and innovative framework / workflows in project delivery
  • Articulate communicator with strong storytelling ability to push new innovative concepts and ideas in a highly creative culture
  • Thorough understanding of contract delivery methods
  • Entrepreneurial spirit that embraces change and constantly seeks new engagement opportunities
  • Ability to foster an innovative culture and bring ideas to market
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to listen and drive consensus through relationship building and ability to win the trust of teammates and project teams
  • Expert in design authoring technology platforms in areas of implementation, practice and development for Autodesk Revit, Rhino, Sketch-up and Navisworks
  • Proficiency with visual and object-oriented programming such as Python, VB.NET, Java, C++, C# + Linq syntax
  • Expert in implementing and supporting design collaboration platforms
  • Familiarity with Performance Design applications and analysis tools
  • Demonstrated ability to develop learning material, deliver effective training and provide ongoing education and technological support to project teams
  • Thorough understanding of visualization tools, workflows and deliverables around images, video, and alternate experiences
  • Reliable, responsive and positive work ethic with the highest degree of integrity
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion and to set priorities and manage competing demands

*This is not a remote or hybrid position. The successful candidate will be expected to live in or relocate to the Washington DC area upon acceptance. 

 

**The compensation range for this position in Washington, DC is estimated between $130K-$145K plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
